Advantages: Location, Food, Amenities Disadvantages: Service to be slightly improved
Stayed at Carpe Diem for 2 weeks with my family and had a great time. There is something for everyone at the hotel. The kids club was great and I felt confident and relaxed knowing my kids were in good entertaining company. The food service was lovely with a wide variety at the main buffet even a special kids corner with different varieties everyday. If u wanted to sit back and relax at meal time u had a choice of 6 al la carte restaurants which we tried and each had lovely food and the service couldn´t have been better. The kids pool is amazing with a pirate boat in the middle of it, the kids had hours of fun in it. Lots of day and night entertainment also with great shows everynight the staff were really good and friendly. My husband did the diving course and loved it he now has his license for diving thanks to the lovely staff who ...
Advantages: Cheap to eat out, lovely beaches, nice warm climate Disadvantages: Not much to do
Turkey is quite a popular holiday destination for the British due to its beautifully clear waters and warm climate. I stayed just outside Izmir for two weeks and I have to say that I have no intention of returning there again. Don't get me wrong - many people go there and find it a most beautiful place for a holiday and indeed you may love it. Well let me tell you why it was not for me.
I actually went out there after being invited by a friend of mine, who is Turkish. Most of the holiday was spent by the beach which is perfect for me because I like to relax in the sun when i'm on holiday - for me there is nothing better. The sea is gorgeous...so clear that when we went out to deep waters you could still see straight to the bottom. I can't stand waters where they are full of rocks and seaweed so the sea around this part of Turkey I ...
Advantages: Flight on time, meal was good, staff ok Disadvantages: old plane, no inflight entertainment, one toilet had no water on way out
I flew Heathrow to Izmir in Oct 07. Crew were ok, not as miserable as expected based on the reviews I had read. No in flight entertainment but meal on way out was very good. On arrival in Izmir one of my suitcases had been ripped on 2 sides. I filled in a damage report and was told to ring the airline.I got a Turkish friend to call on my behalf and was told by KTHY that I had to bring my suitcase to Izmir, which was 2 hours away and they would try and repair it. I explained I could not get there with a suitcase and a baby but they were not interested and did not offer alternative or any help. Most disappointing as suitcase not useable for return trip. ...
