Super San Gimignano

Advantages: Lots to do, relaxing, beautiful.
Disadvantages: Pay toilets, might see Tony Blair

I visited San Gimignano last summer. I cant recommed it enough. For such an amazing place it is very unspoilt and largely unfound by many visitors to the area. It is known as the "Ancient Metropolis" as there are lots of towers remaining. Also Tony Blair takes his holiday there every year. San Gimignano is a small town with approximately 15000 inhabitiants. 15,000 lucky people in my experiance. There are many great shops, interesting cafe's and loads of history. We took it in as part of a day trip which involved visiting Volterra. In heinsight I wish that we had spend a larger percentage of the day at SG. I feel that there was a whole lot more to find. After coming back to England I have seen SG featured in a Holiday program. The presenter was sat under a conopy from a small bar in the large piazza. We too had sat there ...

• San Gimignano •

Advantages: Beautiful!
Disadvantages: No

outside the town walls, you enter in busy streets and shops that creates an unforgettable atmosphere. • If you love Italian food you will find plenty of restaurants and bars in San Gimignano where you can eat anything! • Don't forget to visit the Gelateria di Piazza in Piazza della Cisterna. We appreciate very much ice creams but we didn't know about this award-winning gelateria that produces the best gelato I have ever eat! ...

A San Frantastic Boutique Hotel

Advantages: The price, the location, the staff, the rooms, everything
Disadvantages: ...our shower was like needles

Introduction: So, we're stuck in Albuquerque, and have pretty much seen about as much desert as we can take. We've 'done' all there is to do. With a spare weekend on our hands, we decided to take advantage of our Geographical positioning and take a trip to somewhere on the west coast. I've always wanted to see San Francisco, and after looking into flights, we found some bargains. So off we go. We looked for reasonable hotels, and came across The Petite Auberge, it wasn't the cheapest we found, but it had an appealing charm that won us over, so we booked. Company info: The Petite Auberge is part of the Joie De Vivre chain, I found this information on their website: "Joie de Vivre Hotels is California's largest boutique hotel company. Started in San Francisco in 1987 by Chip Conley, while in his mid-twenties, Joie de ...
