the hotel is famous for the artists and authors who have stayed there. The hotel is located just five minutes walk from St. Mark's Square. so a brilliant location only problem is finding it the first time as the directions to the hotel given by the hotel seem very complicated and not easy to follow. It is only 15 minutes from Rialto bridge and even closer to Acadamier so a perfect location. It is located in a quiet thoroughfare so no street noise . It is right by the famous opera house that was burnt down and has now been rebuilt in all its glory although to go for a tour is by special arrangement only. The hotel ambience was very much in keeping with Venice and has a quantness about it there is a little garden you can have your breakfast in and drinks in the evening although it is quite nice it is not beautiful.. The bedrooms were spotless and there were lovely clean towels and crisp sheets. the shower head was almost as big as the shower but hot water was there so all good and the room while a bit on the small side, were not claustrophobic The air conditionng which is a must in Vennice in August heat worked well and was very quite. The view outside the window though was a bit disappointing but it was extrememly quite which with all the bustling tourists around venice in august was a relief. The buffet breakfast was adequate and bread and crossants very fresh the juiice was out of a packet but you could have copius amounts of tea and coffee and there was ham and cheese as well. There was little choice on the cereals and some apples for the fresh fruit. I booked through expedia and got a much better deal than the hotel themselves could give me. The rate I paid for the location and room was very good value for money. The staff were not that good though and seemed rushed. They would not even arrange a small breakfast for me on the morning I left as I had to leave before breakfast time and as I had paid for it thought they could have rustled up a coffee and roll or biscuits but the attitude was well we cannot help that you have to leave early. In conclusion a lovely little hotel in the heart of venice in a quite area and excellent value for money just a shame staff not a bit more helpful
