Hotel La Meridiana, Sorrento

Advantages: spacious room, clean and cheap
Disadvantages: bit of a walk from the main street

...I would highly recommend this hotel. The Lido is definitely the best place to stay when visiting Venice. Not only is there the added bonus of the lovely Lido beaches and the cheaper restaurants and bars but the hotels themselves are much larger and modern than those on Venice itself. Having stayed on both, I would definitely recommend anyone staying across the water. The boat ride is about 10 minutes and the walk to the boat itself is about 15 minutes from the hotel. The staff were quite unhelpful but I think it might have been because we were young and english and they just didn't think we were interested. To be honest, we weren't and we didn't require any help anyway. The rooms were very clean and much more modern than you would expect. A very good hotel, worth the 10 minute walk from the Lido's main street.... Read review

Advantages: Beautiful views, beautiful Hotel.
Disadvantages: 15 mins distance from center of Sorrento

...This Hotel is great! I stayed here a couple of years ago. The Hotel is in Sant'Agnello which is about 15 mins walk from Sorrento (Piazza Tasso) and there is a local bus service if you don't feel like walking. The Hotel is very clean, and the staff are friendly and very organised. The pool is also very nice and the dining room is fabulous with a view of the Bay of Naples. Very near to the Hotel there is a small beach, some local shops and a couple of restaurants too. It is better to go into Sorrento for bars in the evening although there are a couple of small bars in Sant'Agnello on the main street which is called Corso Italia (about 5 mins walk from the Hotel) On the main street there is a more frequent bus service into Sorrento (buses every 20 mins). ...Extremly disappointing! Only 2 days short of our arrival we were told that they had booked us to their sister hotel that doesn't even get close to a 4-star standard hotel. After declining they even offered the 1st night free of charge!
