Hotel Le Plaza, Antwerp

Advantages: Nice bright conference room
Disadvantages: Desperately in need of refurb and NEW reception staff

...the two lunches were almost identical. Conference Facilities The meeting room we used was good - I was relieved we were allocated a large, bright room on the ground floor instead of one of the subterranean basement rooms. Coffee service during the breaks was done using a Douwe Egberts coffee machine which seemed a bit lazy. Each break the mugs ran out, although I'm not sure if that was because they didn't lay out enough mugs or if they all got pinched by other hotel users. Each break we had to go hunting for staff to bring more mugs. Still not sure where it is I've still not quite worked out where the Ramada Plaza is in relation to the rest of Antwerp. I have friends who live in the centre, near the river, and it takes them 5 to 10 minutes to pick me up when I stay there, so I'd say it's not within comfortable walking distance... Read review

...The Victoria Park Plaza in London is an amazing hotel that has very comfortable, quality rooms and staff who are friendly and professional. The best thing about The Victoria Park Plaza is that it is in a prime position just two minutes from Victoria Station and an easy walk to some of London's main attractions. I found it perfect for shopping and buying souvenirs. There were also quite a number of restaurants close by and my mum who cannot walk far didn't complain once. Although we ate at the hotel we also sampled London's China Town. It is a four star hotel and lives up to the standard. It is situated close to Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Westminster Abbey and Houses of Parliament. The hotel does not allow smoking anywhere near the building which my mum and I really appreciated because we are both none smokers. The smoking ban made... Read review

Advantages: Nice gym

...Perhaps surprisingly, though boasting 4*s, the Crowne Plaza in Antwerp has a few things in common with a standard Travelodge or other similar motel chain. This is something you notice immediately on arrival, prompted by its location directly beside a motorway. The similarities continue inside too, with some of the rooms and parts of the public areas looking worse for wear despite an alleged recent refurbishment, and the hefty price tag associated with a hotel of this 'standard'. If, as Giles Coren speculated recently, Travelodges are so cheap they scrimp on an additional 'l' then the Crowne Plaza was keen to add the 'e' to have something else to bill you for. The hotels in this chain are not especially cheap - the standard rooms in the Antwerp one had rack rates of over 200 Euros with the business class rooms significantly more... Read review
