century of Spanish literature. The hotel has 59 rooms across 7 floors; constantly updated and perfectly equipped for any purpose right in the centre of historic Madrid. The hotel is situated in the centre of artistic and monumental Madrid, in the famous Art Triangle of the prestigious "El Prado", "Reina Sofía" and "Thyssen Bornemisza" museums and next to the "Plaza de las Cortes", " El Retiro Park", the Botanic Garden and the "Calle Huertas" with its amazing night-time ambiance... an unforgettable route.
Hotel Lope De Vega is the first themed hotel in Madrid, openned in September 2000, located in the cultural and historic city centre. It is a styled and fashioned hotel of 59 rooms over 7 floors, in front of Prado Museum and very close to another two museums of enormous interest. The hotel has been decorated with concerns to the Spanish plawriter from 17th Century, Lope de Vega, as well as other personnages and works from that historical context.
Advantages: Very close to city centre and transport, Cheap. Disadvantages: Can be noisy
...visited the Centro De Arte Reina Sofia. There are several permanent exhibitions here including works by artists such as Salvador Dalí, Juan Gris, Picasso, to name just a few. And well worth a visit, I believe the entrance price is 6 euros, although we were able to get a student discount which was around 4euros.
There is of course much more to do in Madrid but I just wanted to give a flavour of some of the attractions.
::: Conclusion :::
I would certainly recommend a trip to Madrid, it is a fantastic, vibrant city and well worth a city break. The hotel Asturias where we stayed was very pleasant and had a great location whilst remaining relatively cheap. The hotel was fairly basic, but for the price not much could be expected and we believe it was fantastic value and so would highly recommend. Especially if like us you are a couple...

...We stayed at the MASSIVE MGM Grand for a few days this time last year.
The MGM Grand, guarded by a 45-foot-tall bronze lion statue has 5,005 rooms and used to be the largest hotel in the world, a claim recently stolen by the Ambassador City Jomtien hotel in Thailand with 5,100 rooms. It's still the largest hotel in North America, although I think this will soon be stolen by George Clooney's Vegashotel development...
(While we're on the subject of large hotels, 17 of the 20 largest hotels in the world are in Las Vegas ! So even if you don't stay at The MGM Grand, odds are you'll be staying somewhere big...)
The MGM Grand is part of the MGM Mirage group, that also owns, among others, The Bellagio, The Mirage, Treasure Island, New York-New York (just across the street) and Beau Rivage hotels/casinos in Vegas.

Advantages: Lots to do, everything's cheaper Disadvantages: None that I can think of
..., such as wildlife, or you could just sit and watch the world go by.
The Palacio Real, or Royal Palace is definitely worth a visit. You can look over Madrid from the Courtyard or go on a tour of the Royal Rooms, some of which are incredible. You’ll need about 2 hours at least to do this. Afterwards walk down to Plaza de Isabel II to east at one of the many cafes there.
Eating in Madrid s fairly easy, even if you hate Spanish food. Like in any city there is a MacDonald’s or a Burger King on each corner. If you do like Spanish food, find a small family restaurant. However you may have to practice a bit of Spanish as these are the sort of places that wont speak English. I must warn you under no circumstances should you visit a restaurant called Museo de Jamon. The quality of service was appalling and the food was cold, and undercooked...
