Lorenzo Il Magnifico Hotel is a very charming property and ancient villa restored to former glory. This magnificent hotel is located in the heart of Florence, 1 km from the Cathedral and Medici Palace. Large guestrooms are stylishly decorated in light tones and elegant fabrics with marble bathrooms that boast jetted showers and tubs. The historical villa, completely restored, is designed to match your holiday needs through his enchanted and relaxing environment; the best quiet welcoming place, after a day spent visiting the artistic treasures of the city. Advantages: clean, comfortable, good value, well located hotel Disadvantages: breakfast could be improved, no bath in some if not all rooms
...We recently stayed at the athenaeum during our visit to Florence in March 2007.
having booked a flight and hotel deal through expedia for £140pp for 2 nights, we were surprised at the bargain price for a 4 star rated hotel. on expedia.co.uk, it says that the hotel is well located, within walking distance of all the major attractions of florence.
On first entering the hotel, the first thing you notice is the lovely sheek modern interior, then you're greeted by the very friendly staff. First impressions were good. They were knowledgable about the local attractions and also well equipped with information about location transport links
The room we were given was a standard double, although the bed provided was a combination of 2 singles put together, the combined size was equivalent to a uk "king size" so not too many complaints...

Advantages: Clean, comfy, good breakfast Disadvantages: May not be worth paying full price for
...I went to Italy to visit my boyfriend, who is on exchange there for a while. On our way to Siena (where we spent most of our time) we decided to spend a night in Florence to see some of the sights. We didn't really put all that much thought into accommodation, we just needed somewhere to stay for a night, and we ended up at the Hotel Alamanni.
OVERVIEW:
The Hotel Alamanni is a three-star hotel located very near to Florence's main train station and about a 15 minute walk from the major tourist attractions. The hotel has 17 guest rooms and 2 suites. There are no business or sporting facilities, but breakfast is provided in the lounge area.
LOCATION:
The hotel is located on the Via Alamanni, a road that runs along the side of the main train station- Santa Maria Novella. The road itself is easy enough to find, but...

Advantages: Cheap, reasonable rooms and breakfast Disadvantages: Looks bad from outside, slight smell!
...around Florence.
The breakfast was adequate, cereal, juice, coffee bread and toast.
The hotel was in a good location, concidering that it was fairly cheap. We walked everywhere, the Duomo and the railway station being within 5 minutes walk.
I can't remember the exact cost of the room but it was between 40 and 50 euros a night.
I would definately stay here again....
