Hotel Majestic, Naples

Majestic, a little tatty but ok!

Advantages: Splendid hotel in the old style
Disadvantages: Why do they have to charge for parking for residents?

We have just returned from Harrogate after spending a lovely 3 nights at this hotel in lovely spa town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so I will try to review this hotel and the town as accurately as I can and would advise others to visit this place as it is a lovely way to spend a few days of relaxation and retail therapy! The hotel is easily located at the Northern edge of the town on a hill above the exhibition halls. It is very imposing and hails from the grand old style of hotel, large and imposing and very Victorian in character. We opted for a "leisure break" booked through Paramount's own website. Review of Majestic Hotel, Harrogate

SEE NAPLES AND DIE...almost

Advantages: Convenient for Pompeii
Disadvantages: AC? What AC? Room was like an oven.

We were planning to visit Pompeii but finding a decent hotel close by was as easy as excavating these ancient ruins with a teaspoon. So Naples it was. The Holiday Inn looked perfect for our needs - on the edge of the city towards Pompei and easy access from the autostrade. When I say easy access, I mean 'in theory'...on a map...in my wildest dreams etc. The Holiday Inn is situated in a modern development of high-rise offices and commercial properties called Centro Direzionale directly connected to a link road from the A1 autostrade. But, this being Naples, where stock car racing is not only the principal hobby, it's downright de rigeur, it proved a little more tricky than directed from the hotel's web page. Magic Majestic?

Advantages: location
Disadvantages: could offer more for that money

My husband and I have just come back from Barcelona, where we spent 4 nights in the five-star hotel Majestic. We booked online about 2 weeks in advance and used their 3 nights for the price of 2 offer. We checked in without any problem and were shown to our room. The room itself was fine, not too small, not too stuffy. It wasn't overlooking anything spectacular, the window faced a car park, which, I suppose, was better than being woken up by the traffic of one of the most famous and busiest streets in Barcelona. There was nothing in the room, however, which would make it stand out from others. A double bed, a desk, 2 bedside tables, a wardrobe, a coffee table but no coffee or tea making facilities. A bulb in one of the bedside lamps was faulty and I asked the house-keeping to replace it. 4 nights wasn't long enough for them to fix ...
