We stayed at the Mar de Cortez, February 2006. The rooms could be described as outdated, no television, kettle etc but large enough and probably about the cheapest you can get in Cabo! There is a pool, but while we were there it wasn't heated and water very cold. Major advantage of Mar de Cortez is it is in the centre of town, about five minutes walk to the Marina, good restaurants and bars etc. This is also a downfall, if you have an early rise, to go fishing etc. you will be aware of the loud noises coming from the clubs and bars that stay open until the early hours of the morning. The Mar de Cortez has a bar in it, but it wasn't very inviting, a good place to meet up before heading out somewhere else, and meeting up at the end of the night for a night cap. We tended to eat out of the hotel most of the time and only had breakfast in the hotel once or twice, servings at breakfast were very generous but you can eat cheaper in the town
