Hotel Monte Verde

Advantages: Very Clean
Disadvantages: Awful Food, Noisy, Far way from Palma Airport

In October 2006 I went on an all-inclusive holiday for one week to Porto Cristo on the east coast of Majorca (Mallorca). I stayed in a hotel called the Monte Verde. It cost me £169 and I will now share my experiences of this hotel with you. The Monte Verde Hotel was built in 1969 and was fully refurbished during the winter of 2000. The Monte Verde has a total of 140 rooms that are built over 7 floors. When I pulled up to The Monte Verde I was not very impressed with the look of the hotel, it looked like a block of flats and was similar to some of the housing around Porto Cristo, which looked a bit basic and old fashioned. However The Monte Verde is only a 2 star hotel so I was not expecting too much. Upon arriving inside at around midnight Majorcan time (+1 hour GMT), I was surprised to find nobody at the 24-hour front desk. I ...

belle mare plage hotel

Advantages: variety of activities and nice food
Disadvantages: a bit isolated

We stayed in a villa @ Belle Mare Plage for our honeymoon. The accomodation was amazing and the facilities, bars, restaurants, everything was fab. The food is fantastic, the buffets are lovely, every food you could possibly imagine! There are free watersports inc waterskiing, pedalos, glass bottom boat ride and snorkelling - the snorkelling was excellent, loads of fish on the reefs. Ther is a gym with various classes including yoga and a spa which did a great massage. The only down side to the hotel is that it is isolated, there is a town nearby that you can walk/cycle to but it's quite a trek, other than that its a taxi ride anywhere so you are pretty much stuck in the hotel on a night, they do have entertainment, dancers or a live band. We are saving up to go back asap! Highly recommended, a brilliant holiday. ...

Review of Belle Mare Plage Hotel, Poste De Flacq

When the going get tough, leave the Mont Clare

Advantages: South-central location, adjoining pub
Disadvantages: Price, service-level, chintz

The Mont Clare hotel is part of the O'Callaghan hotel group that encompasses the Davenport and Alexander Hotels, with all three in close proximity to each other. Of the three, the Mont Clare is the cheapest and lowest rated (3-stars). Unfortunately, it charges 4-star pricing that really isn't deserved by any stretch of the imagination. My overwhelming impression the moment I walked in the door was brass: lots of it. This was immediately before the sinking feeling I get when I know I'm in a hotel that lacks inspiration, and also fails to make up for it by having the reliable, attentive customer service that succeeds in spite of the infrastructure. Think mahogany veneer with attempts at paisley carpets and patterns, and you'll have a fairly good idea of where this is going. Add a level of rickety, with the constant smell ...
