Hotel Marine Palace, Kovalam

...As a business Women I rarely have time to sit down and write a review on a place I have been to. However on this occasion, I have made time as the Palace hotel in Torquay, which I recently attended for a conference, was outstanding. The luxury and status of the hotel clearly shined through in both the exterior and interior appearance. The large rooms where clean, well styled and extremely practical, providing myself with a very high quality experience. After the conference, I retired to a cosy and exceptional room where I was pampered with a deluxe bed, modernised bathroom and fresh fruit. Moreover I was able to spend the evening socialising with colleagues over a game of snooker and a first class glass of wine with a friendly and well mannered group of hotel staff. Advantages: Takes the work out of a complicated tour.
Disadvantages: Personality clashes.

...a swimming pool gave us a good excuse to explore those other hotels, which were just a walk away along the beach. For a fee we were able to spend afternoons working on a tan, having a poolside lunch and getting some exercise. Lighthouse Beach, named after the lighthouse situated at one end is part of the Kovalam trio of beaches and is typical of all the beaches catering for tourists. Ramshackle huts, fronted by tables and chairs, line the sand selling food at all times. Souvenir stalls and shops offering clothes, carvings and shells fill every gap and vendors patrol the tract between them and the sea offering their wares with, mostly, gentle persistence. At the sea's edge local fishermen get their nets and boats ready for the night's fishing. The boats cast off at dusk and their flickering lights can be seen from the shoreline. You have to get... Advantages: Marine Hotel convenient for town

...Sorry have to disagree with previous review on County hoyel/marine hotel llandudno. we have stayed at both on several occasions. In the County we found the rooms to be old fashioned ( This applys to most of the hotels in Llandudno) but clean, food was very good and adequate portions, especially for coach holidays. We have stayed in lots of places both on Coach Holidays and booking our own, there is definatley a difference in hotels that dont cater for Coaches.I agree the Staff are mostly foreign but never had a problem, they are always courteous,pleasant. The Marine again Old fashioned but dont forget these are Victorian hotels, Food was not quite as good as the County even though the menu was the same, i suppose it depends on the Chef.The marine is more convenient for the shops especially if you have difficulty walking. staff were...
