Our hotel was on the Klagesmarkt, a short walk from the heart of the city via the red light area (we never saw any prostitutes on the street but there are a good handful of strip joints and sex shops) and the Old Town. As it was early on Saturday morning we skipped the red light area and proceeded directly to the Old Town. The reconstruction of these narrows streets is impressive and although they are new the painted houses have a lot of character. They are mainly four storeyed houses and painted so many different colours they really reminded me of the houses depicted in fairytale illustrations. After searching high and low for a classy looking hotel in Blackpool I found the Big Blue Hotel and was immediately won over by their website and photos.
We planned to stay a night in the hotel and spend one day at the Pleasure Beach and looking at their offers on the website I soon noticed that they offered a room and unlimited wristband. Jumping at the chance, I booked right away through the site and we got our confirmation email.
We booked to stay in the Superior Double room and the total cost for the room, breakfast and full day unlimited wristbands was £131 and that was for two.

you rip of the lid. If you are only staying for one night this is a total waste as you only use a little and you can?t bring it with as the lid can not be put back on. There was a bathtub with a shower option and a shower curtain. Normally I?m not a big fan of the shower curtain but here there was enough space to avoid the dreaded ?shower curtain stuck to the back? situation.
I had breakfast in the morning and the buffet was very nice. There was a good selection of bread with a nice variety of spreads, cereal, warm stuff (sausages, bacon, scrambles eggs etc) and so on.
I think the conclusion must be that this is a modernhotel with nice room of a pretty generous size. The hotel is also located what seems to be in the middle of town so it is easy to access the city. This was a hotel experience like it should be. I would not mind ...
