Geneva. - So, for CHF 120 a night in central Luzern I didn't expect much.
Surprisingly, everything is much better than I thought. The location is great; less than 5 minutes from the train station. From the train station, walk towards the bus station which is just outside and then cross the bridge. At the end of the bridge, cross the road and you will find yourself in front of the chapel bridge. The hotel is opposite the chapel bridge. If you have a swiss rail pass or swiss flexi pass which is activated for that day, you could even take a free bus ride from the train station. It's just one bus stop away anyway.

Helmhaus SwissQHotel is one of the hotels in Zurich offered by Expedia in their flight plus hotel deals, and this is how we discovered it. Whilst not the cheapest option, its central location meant we could save both time and money travelling to and from the city. What's more, breakfast is included in the price. Reviews on Tripadvisor were very favourable, and a look at the hotel's website further encouraged us to make it our choice. We did not regret this.
My son and his partner booked a double room for three nights, and I booked a single for one night only. I cannot comment on how easy it is to book the hotel directly, as our reservations were made through Expedia. We booked in June for a stay in late August.

My partner and I stayed in this hotel last year (07) for a couple of nights. We opted for the executive room and didn't relly notice anything executive about it. The bathroom was basic and had a leaky shower and mould on the wall. The floor in the room didn't reach the end wall/ window so you could see through the floor. The room had a really strong smell of smoke. The a/c was very noisy, making it difficult to get to sleep.
Breakfast was not a very pleasant experience. The choice of food mainly catered to those who could stomach Thai food and the fruit had flies on it.
The swimming pool was too cold to swim in.
