Sorrento has two marinas. Marina Grande and Marina Piccola, conversely it is Piccola which is the larger of the two and is the departure point for the ferries that cross to Naples and the surrounding islands as well as the cruises along the Amalfi coast.
Maria Grande is the smaller of the two and is home to a number of fishing and pleasure vessels and is well worth a visit. It has a small beach area and some nice sea food restaurants.
Both marina can be reached by public transport or by walking however be warned Sorrento is a coastal town perched on the cliffs and while the walk down is pleasant the same cannot be said for the return journey.

Advantages: Friendly staff and atmosphere, Clean and well managed, lovely food Disadvantages: could maybe have more evening entertainment at the bar
...the side of the hotel, but we didnt hear too much from the road, which was good. The pool was clean and well kept. We didnt have an issue with the 5 euro charge as you were provided with a towel which was changed if it got wet, and it also prevented, sunbed hogging, which was very good. Again the staff were very friendly and there was always a life guardaround the pool. Overall i would reccomend this hotel as a great destination for if staying in Sorrento. It is 1/2 mile from the main strip which is good, as you feel in the town, but not too noisy. Excellent, and will be booking again next year...

Advantages: Quiet, romantic, great food, lovely setting, magnificent views, pool, bars, restaurant Disadvantages: You need to take a bus to get into Sorrento
.... Toni, who mainly worked in the bar in Reception, tried to teach us Italian and was also entertaining. He made cocktails to order whilst joking around most of the time. There were delays at this bar though as Toni sometimes wasn't there.
There was a buffet night while we were there which 'showcased' 'real' Italian food. I found some of the food was quite average compared to the food served in the restaurant normally, but it was still much better quality than you would find in Britain.
The hotel is on a hill and you need to take a bus into Sorrento itself. A minibus is provided by the hotel and Mario, the driver, is also very entertaining and cheeky. You need to check the times but generally you need to book the bus for a particular time and they pick you up from the hotel and take you into Sorrento to a drop-off point. You book...
