...capital of St. John's. We took a trip around the island on a catamaran and the boat picked us up from the beach right beside the hotel, we just had to walk into the sea, to about shin height and then up the catamaran's lowered steps!
We went to Antigua to get married and the hotel offered a package to take us through the whole process effortlessly. One of the managers, Nolda, along with her assistant Bonnie, took us to the relevant registry office and high court to get our documents sorted before the wedding, and made sure everything went smoothly on the day (including organising the steel pan player to play 'Here Comes The Bride' - a nice touch). Advantages: lovely food, polite staff, great swimming pool Disadvantages: no sea view, small television
...My husband and I have just spent 5 nights at the Merton Hotel in St Saviour in Jersey, Channel Islands.
We stayed from Sundary 2 September 2007 to Friday 7 September 2007 and we had a great stay.
The Merton Hotel is owned by Seymour Hotels and is a 3 star hotel. Jersey have their own system of rating hotels which is different to the UK, but the ratings are of a very high standard.

We booked through Condor Ferries and took our own car and paid a total of £769 for the trip (£79 of which was for the car ferry travel).

...on that aspect, but all facilities (closed until mid December) seemed to be available.
When we arrived there had still been no snow. Even the peaks were almost naked after the summer.
The second day we began to drive to StMoritz (about 20-25 miles on a good road) and the snow began to fall with a vengeance. We had to turn back, it was a blizzard. We retreated into the house, ate a little and waited. The snow was hardly more than spindrift by the time twilight crept in upon us. We decided to venture out, into a completely private winter wonderland. There were no tourists, most of the locals were taking their annual holiday.
Everything was fresh, white and magical. We stood on the far side of the river and watched the lights come on in the little town. It truelly was a private Christmas eve out of a childhood dream.
To recommend Scuol...
