Hotel Okura Tokyo

Advantages: Keycard access to bedroom floors, superb heatlth club, pleasant bar
Disadvantages: Lack of atmosphere, arrogant concierge, somewhat tired decor, distance from centre

...I too decided to book this hotel on lastminute.com, as well, a lastminute break. Upon arrival, staff were friendly, my room preferences had been taken into account. The room itself was quite small, and the decor was a little tired. Most irritating was the fact that the space between the double glazed windows had become misted up, spoiling the rather impressive view. I decided to have a light snack in the La Serre bar. The bar itself was quite small; drinks were excellent, as was food, however, portions were small. The Health Club was excellent, however, there is a small charge (11 EUR) for non OCI (Okura Club International) Members. Fortunately I was a member and no charge was levied. ...- Occupying the 18th & 19th floors of a high building, you get a really superb panorama view of Tokyo. It can be seen even from the large window of your room. At night, the view is totally fabulous. Also available from bathroom, amazing! - This Youth Hostel is open to everyone. Tokyo propose expensive accomodations so this kind of place is often fully booked at certain period. But reservations are accepted three months in advance and may be made by phone or letter. - The total capacity is 158 guests. - Access guide : you can easily get by the tube, you can drop off lidabashi station (West Exit) JR Sobu Line then there's a short walk (1 mn!). Or from same station but Exit B2b by metro Yurakucho Line, or Nambokuline. - If you compare to many hotel room charge is really cheap. Per night and per person it cost you 3100 yen = 21... ...I GO TO TOKYO BY VIRGIN EVRY FEW MONTHS AND I CAN RELY ON THIER SERVICES EVEN ON ECONOMY SEATS. AT LHR BOTH BRITISH AND JAPANESE STAFFS WORK HARD AND VERY KIND. FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT IS VERY GOOD AND FOOD IS VERY GOOD. STAFF KEEP THEIR SMILE ALL THE TIME AND VERY PRO. I HAD TO USE BA FOR 3 TIMES IN 2006 TO TOKYO AND I WILL NEVER EVER USE BA AGAIN. I'D RATHER WAIT UNTIL VIRGIN BECOMES AVAILABLE. ONCE THERE WAS A TYPHOON APPROACHING TOKYO SO I COULD NOT FLY OUT OF NARITA AIRPORT BACK TO LONDON SO VIRGIN-JAPAN GAVE ME A 1 NIGHT HOTEL STAY AT FOC IN NARITA AIRPORT. I THINK IT WOULD BE UNFAIR FOR VIRGIN TO HAVE THEM COMPARED WITH BA. I THINK THAT BA STANDS FOR "BUNCH of AMATEURS". ALSO AS A BRAND "VIRGIN" IS LIKE SONY TO THE ELECTRONIC APPLIANCES !!
