Seteais is part of the amazing set of the Serra de Sintra (Sintra Mountain, in English), not more than 30 km from Lisbon.
For those who don't now this area, Sintra is a very special place. Is the highest mountain (300 m only) near Lisbon and at the same time it's close to Cascais and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean coast. This proximity to the ocean gives to Sintra its only microclimate, foggy and wet, with a mystic touch, no matter what.
That's why Sintra is such an exuberant place, where everything is green and fresh throughout the year. That was also the main reason why Sintra became the place where most nobles and even the Portuguese royal family build their summer houses.
Seteais is on the low part of the mountain, but has an amazing view to the Palácio da Pena on the top, and to all surroundings.

Me and my family stayed here a few years ago. You can't fault this hotel
for luxury. After all it's a 5 star hotel. The rooms are spacious, it has a
large open air pool with plenty of sun loungers. There are 2 restaurants
which offer a variety of choices. However prices are high, and a better
option would be to drive to Marbella about 10 minutes away. You will
be spoilt for choices with an array of cuisines catered for.
One downside if you don't have a car you have to take Taxi's everywhere which could be costly if traveling longer distances. A feature of the hotel is the cabane which is a 5 minute drive away, with regular shuttle buses to take you there. Here you can relax away from the crowds on your private stretch of beach or by the swimming pool. Full size beds will have to be booked in advance and sun beds are available but ...

lobby and exterior. HotelPalacio Estoril is different. Its room are very well decorated, with unequalled furniture and design. My room was a double room. It is well equipped but it still has a lot of space. The quality of housekeeping was also great. Unlike other hotels that they do the best only for the first night; here, they did everything perfect for both nights I stayed. You'll be surprised for the number of pillow on the bed (actually, for what?? I've to pile them somewhere else so that I can sleep), the weight of the wooden chair (seriously, a little bit too heavy), amount and varieties of bathroom supplies.
