a recent trip to new york city landed us at Hotel Pennsylvania. Great location, just across from the Amtrak on seventh avenue. After a long wait in the lobby (it was late and they were obviously not staffed for the number of people), we get our room key. Nice to see a secuirty guard keeping non residents out of the elevators. room was on the 11th floor, at the end of a long corridor. Big surprise. Big room, large comfortable bed, Old, small but functional washroom, big closet. All this for only $129. Lousy view out of the window, but quiet and comfy for the night. The room was clean and there was an easy chair, desk and a good reading lamp. The CD/alarm clock was complicated, I gave up trying to figure it out.
