.... From the Middle Ages the town was cut in two parts: Pescino (fisher) and Corte. The two parts had always small fights. In this way, for stop all this, the town goes under Rapallo until 1797 when the two parts obtained own administrations. 1813, under Napoleone Bonaparte, Pescino and Corte, came unified with the name of Porto Napoleone, since 1815 when with the annexation of the Liguria to the Reign of Sardinia, it's changed the name in Santa Margherita. The final name 1863 with a decree of King Vittorio Emanuele II. After the Second World War Santa Margherita Ligure (called the Pearl of the Tigullio), Portofino and the splendid village of Paraggi, became exclusive and rich tourist localities of an extraordinary fascination until our days. ...Punta del Este is the holiday resort more exclusive of the whole South America. Businessmen from Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela as well United States of America select Punta del Este as location for their holidays house. Here come also singers, sport stars, actor and actress. The name of this resort says itself that the town is located on the point more eastern of Uruguay. To reach Punta del Este you should first of all fly to Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay and the drive for about one hour along a very beautiful scenic road that pass through woods, follows the coast of the Atlantic ocean, climbs the surrounding hills. ...Punta del Este means “point east”. And this unknown place for europeans is a massive hit for all the famous and rich argentinian neighbours. It's not more than two hours from Montevideo, Uruguay’s capital, and it's a well prepared resort for the thousands of visitors that receive every summer.
