This week we had a 2 night break to Paris; we stayed in the HotelResidence Monge.
I found the hotel on the internet through Parishotels.com. I then used various review sites to find out what others thought.
Area
The hotel is situated in the 5th arrondissement, walking distance to Notre Dame. It was a nice area to walk around in; plenty of lovely restaurants, bars and shops only 5 minutes walk away. 2 metro stops are nearby, Luxembourg and Place Monge.
We ate out both evenings. Both meals were lovely and reasonably priced, but I can't remember names of restaurants.
Hotel
The hotel is fairly basic. It's a 2*. We choose it as a base for somewhere to sleep. You walk into reception, which has a couple of settee's in front. It is quite a dark reception. Next to reception is a small breakfast room. More on breakfast later ...
of my experiences of Paris as a whole. To sum up, I had a fantastic time in Paris and at the Residence Foch specifically. I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Paris who wants individual and quiet accomodation within easy reach of the Metro system. I stayed here for four nights on my honeymoon and it is absolutely the best hotel in Cairo in my opinion. Actually not just mine - travelling business class I was waiting in the check in line talking to someone who lived in Cairo checking in first class who asked me which hotel and immediately said - "oh, that's the one" when I told them this one.
There are two Four Seasons Hotels in Cairo - this is the newer of the two I think.
It wasn't cheap but my goodness it was outstanding. The service was like nothing I have ever experienced. Example: I was reading my book on a sun lounger by the pool - they have pool waiters for drinks, towel check people who give you a special sheet-type towel to go over your sun lounger with a pocket for the head cushion, and another towel to dry yourself with, they bring you sun cream if you ask etc etc ...
