Advantages: close to the beach Disadvantages: service poor.
My wife and I have just spent a week at the Castilla and have returned home very disappointed with the hotel itself and the concrete jungle in which it resides. To start with the pluses: The hotel is spotlessly clean - though we did find in our room a cockroach of the sort of proportions which might have got it some extra work in the film "Alien". The cleaning staff and indeed all the female staff working in the hotel were helpful and efficient, pleasant to talk to and always wore a smile. Anything else? hmmm the lifts worked!
None of the male staff measured up to the female. Surly, unhelpful and distant are the kindest words I can find.
The food was poor - it was never served warm. Maybe it is a Spanish tradition to serve mashed potato and vegetables cold. If so it is not one that I have encountered before. The shops in the area ...
Advantages: Good location, decent amenities Disadvantages: Can't think of any
I use Alicante airport for my annual break in Spain and find it is convenient and fairly easy to use.
It is situated just outside Alicante on the Costa Blanca, around 46.5km from Benidorm. It is within driving distance of Valencia, around two hours and 179km.
Arrivals
You would probably fly to Alicante if you were staying in Benidorm, Torrevieja, Altea, Calpe, Moraira or Teulada. There are around ten car hire companies who operate out of the airport including the big names like Avis, Europcar and Hertz, these desks are located in the arrivals hall and can get busy at peak times. There are also local car hire companies who ...
Advantages: Clean, friendly, cheap, well-positioned Disadvantages: A bit basic
I stayed in this hotel in September '05 and found it to be excellent value with friendly, helpful staff. It is located near Port des Torrent, with the beach only a short walk down the road; it has a bus stop right outside the door for easy access to anywhere on the island, and the complex also has car hire facilities.
RECEPTION:
24 hour reception desk with bureau de change and small shop selling essentials such as sun cream, cameras and film etc. It is fairly spacious, very clean and sets a great first impression of the hotel (unless you arrive in the night, in which case you'll find the night porter sitting in a corner smoking). On arrival, you will have to show ID, usually your passport.
ROOMS:
All rooms are ensuite with bath, shower, toilet, basin & bidet. The rooms are not huge, but are certainly plenty big enough ...
