Hotel Residencias Las Taparitas, Caracas

Advantages: 4/5 star, great price, good gambling and atmosphere
Disadvantages: The Lion enclosure

...My husband and I have just gotten back from a trip to Las Vegas and chose the MGM hotel to stay at so this forms my review. The MGM is located right on the strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) right by Tropicana Avenue so fairly near one end of the strip. It is located close to the New York New York hotel and there is actually a walkway which joins the two hotels to give you easy access to both. The hotel in its present form was opened at the end of 1993. Most of the hotels in Las Vegas have a certain them that they like to promote through each of their casinos such at NY NY, Paris, The Venetian etc. The MGM in my opinion is not as heavily themed as the other hotels but follows along the lines of old Hollywood/California movies stars etc with the feature of the MGM lion and movie star photos in the bedrooms. Advantages: An unmistakable icon on the Strip, distinctive and with no shortage of class. Exceptional price for exceptional quality of room, service and attraction. Caters for all ages, groups and functional needs. One of the best.
Disadvantages: Watch the queues and price increase around American holidays but at all other times it is a supremely priced hotel.

...To be honest, when ‘The Luxor’ first opened in 1992 I was in Las Vegas at the time staying at the ‘Mirage’ and as a boy in my late teens I thought it looked a little bit tacky and uninspiring. It may have had something to do with the fact that I was staying in one of the higher echelon hotels on the strip and was surrounded by other sensational hotels such as ‘Caesars’ and the ‘MGM Grand’. It lacked that bit of aura, that mystique that comes with a Las Vegas Casino and Hotel complex. The idea was pretty cool: build a 30-story black pyramid in the middle of the desert and put in hotel rooms and a casino with an Egyptian theme, but it just didn’t have the feel or look of something to rival the big Casino’s. Advantages: Tranquil and exclusive hotel
Disadvantages: Rooms overlooking the airport could be noisy

...This has got to be the best hotel I've ever stayed in. We went here in July 2005, which was a reward trip paid for by my company. The Four Seasons Las Vegas is situated on the top four floors (35th to 39th) of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and is at the south end of the strip, just 3 miles from the airport. However, the Four Seasons has it's own secluded entrance separate to that of the Mandalay Bay: the drive sweeps in past the main entrance, and then doubles back on itself, thus creating a one-exit roundabout. The centrepice of this is a small garden which is beautifully maintained, and has a small fountain and seating area. The entrance is set under a large porch area, reminiscent of a great Southern house, and is always well staffed by bell boys willing to help with luggage or open car doors for you.
