Hôtel Restaurant La Flambée -dine in style but bedrooms plain.

Advantages: Beautiful dining room
Disadvantages: Bedrooms adequate but not elegant.

We stayed at the Hôtel Restaurant La Flambée in Bergerac in November 2008 for two nights and enjoyed breakfast and dinner. What follows is an honest account as possible about the hotel as I can provide. Hopefully this may help if you are planning to visit this part of the world. We flew to Bordeaux but the most convenient airport for the hotel is actually in Bergerac as the hotel lies about 2 miles outside the town. Incase you are not familiar with this part of the world these places are in the main wine growing areas, and are in South West France. Flying time from the UK is about an hour and a half if you are flying from the London areas. Easyjet will take you to Bordeaux from Luton, likewise British Airways will fly you from Gatwick, and Ryanair will fly you from Stansted to Bergerac. This area is great as it is possible to use as ...

The hotel with Royal connections

Advantages: Location, history, friendly owners
Disadvantages: Not open in winter

of the hotels. Ballater has 9 hotels, 8 guest houses, 9 B&Bs, 25 self catering sites, 2 campsites, 2 caravan sites but no hostels. You could always phone her majesty if you get stuck, I?m sure she?d have a spare room at Balmoral to ?shack up?!! Although it can get cold here in the winter, in summer the Cairngorm mountains shelter Ballater & give it a rather pleasant climate. Ballater has 17 restaurants; some are listed below, one bank with an ATM, one Post Office & a medical centre. The biggest events in Ballater include Victoria week, Ballater Highland Games (The Queen attends the Breamar games in September) & Royal Deeside walking week. RESTAURANTS INCLUDE: La Mangiatoia, rustic Italian restaurant open daily, tel 01339 755999. The Auld Kirk, stylish restaurant open daily, tel 01339 755762, www.theauldkirk.com The Darroch ...

Review of Pannanich Wells Hotel and Piggies Restaurant, Ballater

A great hotel with friendly stuff and excellent restaurant

Advantages: Breakfast, hotel stuff, cleanliness, restaurant
Disadvantages: Noisy street

about the rooms is the sound isolation, as, if you have a window open, you will constantly hear noises from the street. But on the other hand, you can ask the stuff to give you a room on the other side of the hotel, then, then only noise you will hear is a tram! But anyway, i could sleep quite well even with open window (doors, as it was french balcony). And still, there are better rooms with less sound as well. From my point of view, the breakfast was excellent because of teh wide sortiment of various goods, like warm bread, pancakes, many different kinds of bacon and chease, youghurts, coffe, tea, breakfeast cereal, fruit and so on. And i think the restaurant itself has a very attractive and clean design, with very tidy and professinaly decorated. The cooks seem to be very professional because each of the different meals is very ...
