I digress, the purpose of this review is to warn of the hotel and not the place itself!
Parking
The HotelLe Donjon Les Ramparts is situated within the city walls, so we made sure we checked on parking facilities for which we were quoted 10 Euros per night. It wasn?t until we arrived that we were informed that we could only take our cars in after 10.30pm at night and had to remove them before eight in the morning. We left ours outside the walls of the city!
Check In
On arrival we followed directions to the hotel only to find that it was split into three parts and reception was in another building a five/ten minute walk away (not good, it was 90 degrees and the city was heaving with people). There are so many activities at Le Domaines Les Pailles that we barely knew where to start! There is a large, luxurious casino, complete with parking lot and gazebo. Everything about that casino invites you in (so be careful with your budget!). It really has a warm and welcoming décor and what I particularly liked was the fact that it was not just another vulgar club full of perverts or hardcore gamblers and perverts- this casino was one posh place! I liked the contrast inside: While the décor is done in classic and rich colors of gold and green, the music is quite contemporary. In fact, when I first stepped in, I was expecting a more antique, classic environment. Like all other Casinos, it has the usual fruit machines and poker tables, among the other games. Mauritius has always sounded like and advertised as the dream tropical island and when you book with your travel agent or on the web you are driven by the white beaches, luxury hotels and the vision of a tropical island.
The le Coco Beach hotel is situated on its own white beach perfectly clean and manicured each morning.
The hotel is only a 3 star hotel and its fair to say, showing its age.
We had a room overlooking the beach it was clean and the sheets and towels were changed each day.
the bathroom was a big dissapointment mold on the tiles and fitting falling off.
The hotel did do there bestto rectify the problems however it did take the edge off the excellent servic of the staff.
We were going to upgrade to a superior bungalow, but overall the room with its view was the better option.
