San Remo in style

Advantages: Luxury par excellance!
Disadvantages: Snobby staff!

We booked this holiday through an Irish travel company called Abbey travel based in Dublin and although it was expensive (Italy usually is expensive in my opinion), we loveld the look of the hotel. Flight was to Nice form Dublin with a personal taxi transfer to San Remo at hurtling speeds across the French/Italian border. The hotel is very grand indeed and would be a lovely place to take your most precious partner for a luxurious break and a bit of pampering. It really is 5 star in all aspects. The rooms are sumptious and the decor is right out of an antique catalogue, the clientelle are all well heeled and the atmosphere is like out of a 1930's novel with Brits abroad emulating the grand tour of the 18th century. As we are in Italy, it goes without saying that the food was gorgeous throughout our stay and the Italian style ...

San Remo CD34 - Style, Performance AND subtlety?

Advantages: Panel Release - Lots of Features - Great Price
Disadvantages: Screen susceptible to Glare.

I bought this head-unit over a year ago now for about £80. It's now much cheaper than this, but at £80 it was great value. The front panel is attractive and looks great on the dashboard. It looks striking but doesn't use garish colours like other popular brands, Alpine, Sony, Clarion etc. The white on black display is also very nice, but is susceptible to glare if you're using it in the midday sun! Feature-wise, the San Remo CD34 is rich. It features a great EQ allowing you to manipulate Bass and Treble, and also what's called X-Bass, which is a nifty tool for creating harmonics above a certain sub-bass note which allows the ear to perceive lower harmonics than are actually present. Great if you have speakers unable to replicate deep bass frequencies. It also has 3 EQ presets, Rock, Classical and Pop, which are useful for quick ...

Phenomena with a budget at a historic hotel

Advantages: An inexpensive hotel in a decent neighborhood, clean, really kewl claw-foot bathtub, haunted
Disadvantages: Some poorly-designed shower rooms, inattentive chambermaid, parking accommodations are not the most convenient

Let's face it. The biggest attraction for guests to the San Remo Hotel in San Francisco is the price. For anyone traveling on budget, it offers a bed and plumbing facilities at a rate that won't break the bank of someone with limited resources. I had stayed there when my British girlfriend, Jayne, came to visit a couple years ago. Even though it lacks most of the amenities offered by today's hotels, it has one other attraction newer ones don't have: ghosts. My boyfriend's, Russell's, birthday was coming up. He had never been to Alcatraz and had mentioned an interest in seeing it. After spending my last couple of birthdays with me in Arizona, I wanted to arrange something a little special for him on his. Despite the challenge to our privacy those two nights, I nonetheless found this little hotel charming and may have even ...
