Advantages: Great hotel, great location? Disadvantages: Perhaps too big!
...Last year in the Sunday supplements I read about the new Hilton Hotel that had just opened in Venice and they had comments on the wonderful views and the roof terrace.
As we had booked to visit Venice in March of this year, and had been several times before this was an opportunity to see another view of Venice from a different area.
I had read that it is a large hotel and thinking about Venice and the size it must be out of the main Venice tourist area, we had not seen any building work on that scale the year before.
The Hilton hotel is in the Giudecca area of Venice away from St. Mark's Square. We had to catch a water bus from San Zaccaria, over to Zitelle and then just wondered along until we arrived at the Hilton which is the other end of Giudecca Island.
They do say that Elton John has a house in this part of Venice...

Advantages: very cheap, free breakfast Disadvantages: bit shabby
...Well went to venice in december with ryanair (1p flights!!!) it was only after I had booked the flights that I relised how expensive the town really was... After hours of searching I found this hotel it worked out at £90 for 4 nights for a double room, now that is very good for venice, was also surprised to find out that breakfast was included.
I was a bit hesitant as the price was too good to be true and it was also situated on the lido and it would mean getting a water bus to and from venice, I do have to point out that this is not a problem- they run 24hrs/day 7days/week. so I went a haead and booked it.
As we arrived into venice I saw a number of 3 or 4star hotel all looking pretty old and shabby so I began to feel quite worried.
we arrived at the hotel at 2 am there was a night person there. He was very friendly and spoke...

Advantages: All inclusive: good food, comfy rooms Disadvantages: Occasionally grumpy staff, up a hill, bar closes 12
...I have just got back (sadly) from a week's holiday in Salou. (SEPTEMBER 2005!) We booked last minute on teletext and got a really good deal for Venecia Park Hotel. We paid £254 for our holiday package including flights and transfers. Excitement set in. Then a few days before we set off a googling session instilled fear into our hearts. The reviews for the hotel all over the net, were completely negative, citing bad food, broken air conditioning, etc. We gritted our teeth and pretended not to worry and tried not to think about it till we arrived.
We, incidently, are two 19 year old students, looking for an easy week in the sun with the occasional night out clubbing. As young people and students we probably aren't as fussy as my parents, for example, but we still expect certain standards.
Venecia Park is a 3* All Inclusive hotel set...

Firstly the photos of the hotel and room are quite deceptive; the Carlton Grand Canal Hotel is a crummy looking hotel with tiny rooms but apparently this is to be expected in Venice- it is also useful to note that there are many dilapidated looking... more
