Fantastic hotel in Lake Garda, reasonable price and great staff

Advantages: Friendly staff, clean rooms, good facilities
Disadvantages: A little too far from town if walking, pool covered

. The room had a large bed, large balcony and there was a safe and fridge in the wardrobe. The bathroom was modern and all was very clean. The staff were extremely friendly, and the people who manned the desk all spoke good English and were able to advise us on local places to go. Locally there were a couple of wonderful restaurants serving fantastic food for reasonable prices, only a five minute walk from the hotel. However, the hotel is situated slightly out of the town of Desenzano. This was not too much of an issue for us as we had a car and were not there in high season so could park easily in the town, but would be a 20 min brisk walk without. On the plus side, Lake Garda was only across the road from the hotel and if you prefer peace and quiet the hotel certainly offers that. In summary I would stay here again if visiting Desenzano ...

A place in the sun - Torri de Benaco, Lake Garda

Advantages: tranquil and picturesque.
Disadvantages: Erratic bus service

. Places of Interest There is an excellent Tourist Information Centre in the town where the staff are extremely helpful. From here one can find all the best places to visit around the lake, get timetables for local boats and buses, national railways and hotel information. Like most of the towns around the lake Torri has a castle. Formerly the seat of government for Benaco (now known as Garda). From the outside it looked inviting but it never seemed to be open to the public when we were around. I believe inside there are museums displaying life as it was in times gone by in this Olive producing region. It is also used for civil functions, we were lucky to observe a wedding. There are two churches in Torri de Benaco, which one can visit or attend services. They often host exhibitions and concerts free of charge. Shopping ...

Review of Torre Del Benaco, Lake Garda (Italy)

Hotel Riviera, Costa Brava ~ costa very reasonable

Advantages: Location on main promenade, access to transport.
Disadvantages: Noisy in Season

We stayed here in 2006 the last week May, first week June on a "Special" from flyglobespan out of Edinburgh, taken off their website at flyglobespan.com Flights were good timings to and from Edinburgh, and we were met at Barcelona by their transfer reps service and escorted to our coach. The transfer to Santa Susanna took just over an hour and twenty minutes, but this would obviously be longer in peak season just due to traffic volumes. The Hotel is located just where the newer part of anta Susanna starts and the older part ends, we remember this hotel from around twenty years ago. When we stayed before it was officially a 1 star, nowadays it classes as a 3 star, but I have to say frankly there's not a lot of difference. The rooms have been re-furbished in that time, and the public areas have very much been upgraded, but the rooms ...
