...As a budget traveller I found Berlin to be just okay. The problem is it is not cheap in comparison to some places. The transport system is okay and the people are ignorant......sorry about anglo-german relationships but they were. Berlin obviously is a historic and important city but with reunification the city is a building site and not very eye pleasing. However I am not anti-Berlin I saw many site and stayed in a great campsite on the outskirts. But unfortuantely Berlin wasn't the biggest highlight of our holiday. ...Don't worry then.. here is the answer. I had to go to Berlin a few weeks ago. Just over the weekend and I didn't want to spend a fortune for my hotel-room. But on the other hand, I wanted to be as central as possible. So, I searched the web and found a wonderful, inexpensive (for Berlin) central placed hotel under the following URL: http://www.gold-hotel-berlin.de (site available in English, too) The Goldhotel in the Weserstrasse 24 is reached by Bus 240 within 10 minutes from the East Trainstation (Ostbahnhof). The bus station is right across the street. I had a single bedroom and it wasn't anything fancy but there was everything I needed. A comfortable bed (not to small, perfect for me), a desk and chair, and a quite big built-in-closet. What really surprised me, was the big bathroom. And the rooms have cable-tv and -radio... Advantages: A City well worth a visit

...again a lively thriving city, with most of the wall now gone. Now on to the main story Berlin 2000 This was to be the visit, of all visits, and the main part of this review. My sister and I took my Mother and Father to Berlin, in the case of my Father (back to Berlin) this time we decided to travel by coach, as my Father wasn’t keen on flying, Although very enjoyable, I don’t think I would travel this way again, as it was so tiring, I prefer to fly.
