The accomodation
Upon checking in to the accomodation I was asked for my Passport, so they could check the details of the booking I had made under my own name. I guess they use this procedure against breakages and in case of theft, trouble etc. I have not known this to be a feature in accomodation in England. This company procedure did not bother me whatsoever.
I travelled alone to this accomodation, having booked a small room, however when I was shown my room I am sure it would have been suitable for two people. As I was staying in prague for two nights on a leisurely short city break, this did not particularly bother me too much regarding the standard of the facilities. When I was shown my room there were two single Bed's situated side-by-side. The Bed's to my eyes looked nineteen eightees style old fashioned beds ...

Sometimes I really have to think long and hard about whether to write a review of a hotel that I like for fear of persuading others to use it and then finding I can't get a room next time I want one. Why do so many people shun local hotels in favour of the international hotel chains? Well my guess is that they are looking for security - like American tourists hunting down McDonalds in Paris and Rome. They know they'll never get anything surprising but they know exactly what they WILL get. A hotel brand should guarantee a certain level of quality in return for sometimes paying well over the odds. So if you decide to pick an independent hotel at random will you end up in a bed-bug ridden filth pit ...

Okay...Saint Mark's Basilica (Basilica di SanMarco) was built in 1071, and is in Venice, at St Mark's Square (Piazza SanMarco).
The square can be hard to find, or very easy, depending on how good you are at navigating the streets (needless to say, we had a bit of a struggle!) Even though the basilica is enormous, I couldn't see it at all until we stumbled straight onto St Mark's Square, where it suddenly leaps out on you, dominating the place. If ever you go to Venice I would strongly recommend a trip to St Marks Square, as this building is probably one of the most amazing you will ever see.
The thing that struck me first of all was the sheer colossal size of it. It is toweringly tall, and extemely wide, I have never seen anything like it. I was expecting to see ...
