I went on holiday to SanPedrode Alacantara several years ago and stayed in the hotel Cortijo Blanco. It was a hotel we had seen on TV Travel Shop, as it was one of their top 10 holiday destinations.
LOCATION
The hotel is situated in the small spanish village of sanpedrode alacantara, which as said by the holiday rep is "untouched by tourism, other than the McDnalds!". The village is around a 15 minute walk from the hotel, however within only a 5 minute walking distance, within sort of a mini village there are some small shops and bars as well as a little supermarket. In the village there are shops and bars and it has to be said that some of the tapas bars there are amongst the best I have been in, and well worth a try. The village and area is very remote with not much else about but all the essentials are on site.

We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playa deSan Juan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in.
The cost was ?94 per night for an en suite room with king size bed and an ?almost double? sofa bed. The room was on the third floor of the hotel and had a view of another apartment block to the rear of the hotel. However, this did not cause any problems as the apartments were quite a distance from the hotel, therefore not blocking the panoramic view.
THE HOTEL
The hotel building is over 7 floors: the ground floor, floors 1 to 5 and a floor called '-1'. If you are given a room on the '-1' floor, don't think that they are shoving you in ...

there are plenty of choices. During the day I found it very hard to eat anything as I was so warm. This is when the free ice cream and constant delicious drinks( beware if you are ordering alcoholic the measures are three times the British one, which is okay if you like strong drinks)came in handy! The bar staff knew my order by the third day of the holiday and were lovely! Could not have stayed just in the complex most nights if they had not been characters!
The local area is quite quiet, nearby Puerto Banus and Marbella are worth a trip! but a little overrated. There are a few little roads next to the hotel with various shops and eating places( we went to Buddies for a pizza one night - it was excellent ).
Plenty of pubs which show sports(especially British football for the men bored with sunbathing!) The SanPedro beach is gorgeous! But ...
