...Who stays for several days and nights in Barcelona, he needs, is not private or has found accomodation in the youth hostel, a hotel. Because the supply was big for October and we did not know the town, the choice and the decision were difficult for a certain hotel!
Our criteria
Central position - because we were only four days in the town was that our main criterion.
To reach transport-technically well - already at home we had found out about the possibilities with metro and buses to be able to use them then also intensely.
Four stars, but affordably - of course is also the aspect in price always an essential argument for one Hotel. Whether it was also inexpensive then, then this will show itself only behind.

The supply of hotel NH SantAngelo seemed to fulfil all our needs...

Advantages: Fantastic location, brilliant service, immaculate Disadvantages: It is pricey, but then, Rome is generally pricey
...looked at the map and said we had picked a really good location as we were quite close to Vatican City. It was only when we were there on our second day in Rome, having got to grips with the map and finding our way around, that we realised we were actually able to walk to many of the main sights. We were coming out of the Vatican and checking the map to see which way to the Sistine Chapel when I spotted a road name on the map which looked very familiar, and realised that we were a 15 minute walk away from the hotel. Hotel Cicerone, we discovered, is within walking distance of the Vatican, Piazza del Popolo, the Spanish Steps, Castel Sant'Angelo and San Pietro. Even Trevi Fountain and Pantheon could be reached by foot, it was only the Colloseum and Roman Forum that really warranted a journey on the metro and even that took minutes to reach...

...invited to a wedding in London.
Planning the trip
Our initial plan was to fly from Stavanger to London to take part in a wedding and then use Ryanair to get to Rome and just book a hotel on the web. But after our trip to Japan we checked out Expedia options again. We ended up with a package deal from www.expedia.co.uk. As always it is tricky to know which area of the city to stay in when you don't know the place. We posted in different forums and also read the Eyewitness guidebook that we bought from www.amazon.co.uk. Many of the hotels that we looked at were located in the Termini area…and the feedback from others was that this area was a bit seedy. But we took a chance anyway and booked a room at Bettoja Hotel Nord Nuova Roma. The Expedia package included the flights from London to Rome (and back of course) and 5 nights at the hotel...
