Advantages: Comfortable Small Hotel with Character Disadvantages: A tiny lift!
...I've just come back from Geneva and had the privilege of staying in one of the best hotels I've ever visited. I have never stayed in a Swiss Hotel before and I understand they are all of good quality, but this hotel had so much character too.
Location (1 Rue des Marbrieres)
As I walked everywhere, I will give you approximate walking times from places:-
20 minutes from the main station (Gare Cornavin)
20 minutes from the Old town
15 minutes from the English Garden with the view of the Jet D'Eau
15 minutes from the main shopping area
5 minutes from the nearest supermarket (the Co-op is at the end of the road!)
5 minutes to the nearest bus stop
It's located in a quiet road just outside all the main areas - making it quiet but accessible for everything.
Price
I had a single room - it was CHF220 per night - but I'd got a 3...

...1.Location
Hotel Des Bergues is my ideal hotel in Genenva, right outside Lake Geneva and River Rhone, easily access by car or on foot. Buses stop on the left side of the hotel (If you are coming from main railway station).
2.My room
I stayed alone in one of their executive room and my room is hugh. My bed is two single bed put together and there are nice lamp and pictures in my room. There is also a hugh warerobe and a hallway in my room. The mix of ivory and pastel colour scheme in the room makes it very pleasant and cozy. There is also a writing desk and coffee table. In such a grand and luxury hotel there is of course television, well stocked mini bar and computer ports.
I am particularly impress about the bathroom curtains. There are two layers of shower curtains, one for practical reason and the outer layer one is just...

Advantages: Bend over backwards service Disadvantages: None
...Having been to The Savoy a number of times for business meetings it was always a hotel I have wanted to stay at not only for the history but also for it's location. However the cost has always been a little hard to bear. You can imagine my pleasure when idly scanning through hotels.com and seeing the hotel's latest offer of £99 pppn including continental breakfast.
I booked and treated my wife for a 2 night surprise visit. Apparently the cheaper rates are due to the fact that the hotel is closing at Christmas for one year to undergo a refurbishment. Does it need a refurbishment? Probably is the answer but it isn't tatty. More like faded but still impressive.
From the moment we walked through the doors we were made very welcome indeed. The doormen were attentive and eager to help. The reception staff were efficient and courteous...
