San Luis hotel

Advantages: sports facilities, clean hotel, good food, friendly staff
Disadvantages: quiet for teenagers at night, lack of beach

Having just returned from Hotel San Luis We would like to say what a great time we had. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean especially as we went in August when it is at it's busiest. The food although a bit repetitive is excellent and there is always something you like (even when you have fussy children)! The rooms are cleaned thoroughly daily and clean bed linen and towels changed daily too. The entertainment is very good generally and the children's animation is excellent. We went all inclusive and this is well worth considering as drinks can be very expensive. Ice creams are free as well as unlimited drinks, crisps, nuts etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful and you can hire beach towels for a refundable deposit of 10 euros each. Sports facilities are a godsend for teenagers as is the spotless pool area. We will definitely be ...

A San Frantastic Boutique Hotel

Advantages: The price, the location, the staff, the rooms, everything
Disadvantages: ...our shower was like needles

Introduction: So, we're stuck in Albuquerque, and have pretty much seen about as much desert as we can take. We've 'done' all there is to do. With a spare weekend on our hands, we decided to take advantage of our Geographical positioning and take a trip to somewhere on the west coast. I've always wanted to see San Francisco, and after looking into flights, we found some bargains. So off we go. We looked for reasonable hotels, and came across The Petite Auberge, it wasn't the cheapest we found, but it had an appealing charm that won us over, so we booked. Company info: The Petite Auberge is part of the Joie De Vivre chain, I found this information on their website: "Joie de Vivre Hotels is California's largest boutique hotel company. Started in San Francisco in 1987 by Chip Conley, while in his mid-twenties, Joie de ...

The Magic of San Siro

Advantages: The atmosphere and sheer scale of the stadium
Disadvantages: Undercurrent of violence in Italian football

I always like travelling and soaking up culture. When I'm abroad I also try to fit in a football match. I've seen Dutch, Belgian and French football on a few occasions but I've always wanted to see matches from the big boys of Europe ie. Spain Germany and Italy. In April 2004 I had decided to take my eldest son, then aged twelve, to do a whistle stop tour of Northern Italy, taking in Milan, Venice, Rome and Pisa. I had been to all these places before so it wasn't new to me but my son had been keen on Italy so I thought I'd show him the sights, smells, architecture and culture of Italy. Great, but what about me? Wouldn't it be nice to see an Italian match, I said to my son, particularly at the San Siro Stadium. Good kid that he is he agreed wholeheartedly. So I began investigating on the internet to find out how possible it would ...
