Initially we booked only 2 days as we wanted to be sure about the environment. As the neighbourhood is quiet (no dancings etc) and as the manager and his mother do a nice job, we stayed there during the whole trip. Each morning we were welcomed at the buffet breakfast with a smile and "Kalimera, how are you today?" Both speak enough English to respond at all your desires and give you a family atmosphere where you feel welcome. Also the cleaning personnel deserve good points: very friendly.
Breakfast can be taken inside when it is cold or next to the pool.
The swimming pool and the whole hotel is nice and clean. The architecture of the hotel is very attractive indeed; the photos on the hotels website are not fake. The room we stayed in was at the top of the new building (7 years old) with some sea view. The room was large, with a fridge and a small cooking area. A terrace with a small table is available to eat outside. The hotel is located in walking distance of the whole Naxos town.
Small disadvantages: - as a couple we would have wanted a large bed instead of two smaller ones next to each other - a microwave would have made simple cooking easier (but eating in town is cheap too) - the breakfast buffet was identical each day, some fruits would have been welcome too.
This hotel is definitely worth the money you pay for a room. ---------------- 2009 -------------------------------- As opposed to 2007 where we only Stayed on Naxos, In 2009 we did some "island hopping" in the Cyclades. As Naxos was part of of the trip we immediately decided to re-select Spiros Hotel as place to stay, our experience then was so good that "why look for something else". This time we received an apartment with one large bed in stead of two small ones (what we prefer as a couple). Even though there were more tourists in June than in May, the hotel was quiet. For an hotel located so close to a city center, the pool area is very attractive, with a wide open view. The breakfast is good, but could be improved: no fresh fruits, every day the same choice. That's why I say "good" for food & drink. Stelios and his mother are still so friendly and both their knowledge of English has improved and the welcome was almost like returning to family. Everything is thoroughly cleaned. A good improvement is that the balconies of almost all upper floor apartments received a sun roof (not visible on the photos on the hotel's web site). As we arrived early enough (9h30) we decided to go by foot from the port to the hotel, a good walk, but very well do-able, even with a suitcase (with rollers), I tell this just as illustration that the hotel's location is great. One can also walk to a real supermarket to buy whatever you'd like e.g. to cook in the apartment. At the end of our stay: we declined Stelios' offer to drive us to the port as we still had a rental car ("New Car" offers good, young, small cars at very attractive prices)
