It's a tiny hotel - only 40 odd rooms, which I always find much more comfortable than some of the bigger hotels where you just feel lost. As you would expect with a name like Hotel Tiffany, it's full of Tiffany style lamps and Art Nouveau features - including things like the headboards. My room was at the top of the hotel - floor 5. I've just come back from Geneva and had the privilege of staying in one of the best hotels I've ever visited. I have never stayed in a Swiss Hotel before and I understand they are all of good quality, but this hotel had so much character too.
Location (1 Rue des Marbrieres) As I walked everywhere, I will give you approximate walking times from places:- 20 minutes from the main station (Gare Cornavin) 20 minutes from the Old town 15 minutes from the English Garden with the view of the Jet D'Eau 15 minutes from the main shopping area 5 minutes from the nearest supermarket (the Co-op is at the end of the road!) 5 minutes to the nearest bus stop
It's located in a quiet road just outside all the main areas - making it quiet but accessible for everything.
Price I had a single room - it was CHF220 per night - but I'd got a 3 nights for the price of 2 deal when it included a Saturday night.
So what was it like:- It's a tiny hotel - only 40 odd rooms, which I always find much more comfortable than some of the bigger hotels where you just feel lost. As you would expect with a name like Hotel Tiffany, it's full of Tiffany style lamps and Art Nouveau features - including things like the headboards. My room was at the top of the hotel - floor 5. I could get the very, very small lift to the 4th floor, but I had to walk up the last flight - not too bad unless you've got lots of luggage - or you get the porter to take it up! My room was under the eaves, with exposed beams - very pretty. There is an air conditioning unit in every room, so if you want to fling open the windows and breathe in Swiss air, you can, but if not, there is always the machine way! The bathroom was quite small, but I didn't mind. The toiletries provided were Crabtree and Evelyn (only the best!) and you even get a bathrobe and a pair of scales. There is also a minibar, TV with cable (actually showing an English language programme which wasn't a news channel for once - well it showed BBC Prime!!), and of course a telephone. The only down side of the room was a very small wardrobe and no drawer space. But the main thing - everything is incredibly clean - as you would expect of the Swiss!
Breakfast:- This was a cold buffet breakfast served in the Hotel Restaurant. There are 4 types of cereal on offer. Plus yoghurt, fresh fruit salad and fresh fruit. Bread, croissants, pain au chocolat, rolls. Several different types of cheese, plus jam. You serve yourself to everything including your drinks - tea, coffee, chocolate, orange juice, etc. So you don't need to feel guilty about how much you eat - I just went up and down like a yo-yo as the tables were a little small and not able to hold too much!
So I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who goes to Geneva - especially if you are not keen on large, corporate type hotels!
