The room had a large bed, large balcony and there was a safe and fridge in the wardrobe. The bathroom was modern and all was very clean.
The staff were extremely friendly, and the people who manned the desk all spoke good English and were able to advise us on local places to go.
Locally there were a couple of wonderful restaurants serving fantastic food for reasonable prices, only a five minute walk from the hotel.
However, the hotel is situated slightly out of the town of Desenzano. This was not too much of an issue for us as we had a car and were not there in high season so could park easily in the town, but would be a 20 min brisk walk without.
On the plus side, Lake Garda was only across the road from the hotel and if you prefer peace and quiet the hotel certainly offers that.
In summary I would stay here again if visiting Desenzano ...

Places of Interest
There is an excellent Tourist Information Centre in the town where the staff are extremely helpful. From here one can find all the best places to visit around the lake, get timetables for local boats and buses, national railways and hotel information.
Like most of the towns around the lake Torri has a castle. Formerly the seat of government for Benaco (now known as Garda). From the outside it looked inviting but it never seemed to be open to the public when we were around. I believe inside there are museums displaying life as it was in times gone by in this Olive producing region. It is also used for civil functions, we were lucky to observe a wedding.
There are two churches in Torri de Benaco, which one can visit or attend services. They often host exhibitions and concerts free of charge.

If you are staying in Tripoli, this is by far the very best hotel with regards to service, cleanliness and ammenities.
Full sports room and athletic club. Indoor swimming pool.
Price is high but not worse than most European hotels of this calibre.
On the down side the location is in one of the worst areas of this city. It is like a jewel (the hotel) sitting in the middle of a garbage dump (the surrounding area).
However, if you can afford it, this is the only hotel one should stay at.
Any other hotel in this city, would be cheaper but not by much, however, none that I have stayed could compare. In fact most would be considered sub-standard.
Food is top notch. The cuisine variety is from around the globe. Obviously, there is a mediteranean flare to it. Buffet style dishes give one an abundance of choices.
