My experience with the Tuzla Hotel is rather unpleasant…And my husband and I had to tolerate it for two weeks. That was back in 2000. To start with, Tuzla itself is a very gloomy and dull town. And because it was raining most of the time while we were there, it felt so depressing!
The rooms are so tastelessly furnished! Black furniture, awful mirrors, uncomfortable beds, I felt physically and psychologically suffocated when I was there. And the washbasin in the bathroom was blocked. That was sorted after we complained. There was no problem with the heating though – we could adjust the temperature ourselves and even though it was cold outside, we sometimes had to turn off the heating and keep the windows open – for some reason it was so hot and stuffy in the room.. We had satellite TV with quite a few channels in English, German, French and, of course, Bosnian. That was positive.
The breakfast was OK – bacon and egg, cold meat, yogurts, fruit, fruit salads, nice chocolate cakes… The food in the National restaurant, where we had our evening meals, was also quite good. And so was the local wine.
The staff were helpful. In fact, I once wished they hadn’t been so helpful.. My husband and I were looking for an Internet café and since the hotel didn’t provide this service, we were recommended a place nearby… A few days later we were pick-pocketed there… The amount stolen was an absolute fortune… Luckily, we still had some reserves left. I suppose that can happen anywhere but at that point I just wanted to leave that place! --------
