Advantages: Shopping! Disadvantages: Italian men on a major "charm" offensive & you will come back broke
...Recently I wrote a review on Geneva. The last time I visited myself and my flatmate (otherwise known as LIZKEMPO) decided to make a proper holiday of it so we jumped on a train and headed into Italy afterwards. So by way of a sequel I’m now writing a review of our next destination, Milan.
Milan is in the north of Italy, situated in the plains of the Po Valley, and is the capital of Lombardy. When you think of Milan several things instantly spring to mind. Perhaps the first is that it’s not as stunning architecturally or culturally as other Italian cities such as Rome, Florence or Venice. Industrial might even cross your mind. But secondly the redeeming feature is that Milan is universally acknowledged as the city of style. Images of glamour, designers and Victoria Beckham on a shopping spree (just as I write this an advert for ‘The Real...

...I lived in Milan for two years when i was age 7 and 8, we had to move out there because of my dads job. When we first moved there we had to stay in a kind of hotel/bording house called the "Prince Pesse Catilda" translated into english as the "Building of Shit" my bed was a broken bit of drifwood that pulled/collapsed off the wall and the bathroom was more like a sunked ship.
Anyway after living/surviving there for six weeks we moved into a luxery appartment allong Vialle Montello right next to Parko Sempioni. Parko Sempioni was an oasis in Milan, full of happy children and ducks!(although after a resent visit last year where i almost got mugged i have now changed my mind!!) In the park was the main Arena where the apparently used to hold great sea battles, yeah SEA battles. They used to floor the Arena and reinact...

Advantages: easy to use metro, great city Disadvantages: hectic
...i visited milan for a weekend in august last year and love the city. very crowded and busy place but a worthwhile experience. beautiful people walking around everywhere and great if hot and sunny. duomo (catherdral) is breathtaking and one can get great photos of this "asian-esque" looking building.
i'm a student so had a tight budget but there's plenty to see. stayed in the cheapest hotel available, in a pleasant room. i think €28 per night, room only. but this is city centre. no need to book hotel room; staff at tourist accomodation office in stazione centrale (main train station) is very helpful and if you "no parlo italiano" they speak english, german, french and spanish.
friendly city, but many a pick-pocket and beggars are rife, so beware! i'm a single 18yr old boy(was 17 when i went) and felt safe, but perhaps...
