This is a honest review from a travel agent. I have just returned from a 14 night stay at the Venecia Park Hotel in Salou. I will write this in as much detail as I possibly can and hope this will be very helpful to anyone thinking of going to this hotel. Flight from the uk was very convenient as only took 2 hours 15 mins. On arrival at Reus Airport we decided to get a taxi from outside the main terminal building which was very quick and easy to do and only cost 30 euros. The taxis were waiting and it took approx 15 minutes to get to hotel. Much quicker than on the transfer buses. RECEPTION. Upon arrival we were checked in very quickly by a friendly, cheerful, helpful member of staff. We had to sign one form, have photograph taken for our all inclusive card and that was it off to the room we went. The hotel has 2 lifts which in our 2 week stay we never saw any problems with. BEDROOM On entering the hotel bedroom we were a little disappointed at first as the room appeared to be a bit dated and badly lit. This was fine during the day as the sunlight really brightened up the room. There was only one socket which was fine for us but I could imagine some people may find this a problem. There was a tv in the room, channels were very limited but fine for us as we dont go on holiday to watch tv. The rooms have air con which when working was fantastic but as we went in october half way through the stay it got to the date when they decided to turn it off. Disappointing as 27 degrees and at night unbearable. The room consisted of 3 single beds but I believe they do do double beds aswell. The bathroom was a reasonable size, consisted on toilet, bidet, bather and shower over the bath. The rooms were cleaned daily, towels changed daily and bed linen changed a few times a week. The rooms all have large balconies with a table and 2 plastic chairs. MAIN BAR The products available behind the bar and excellent, plenty of choice. Drinks are certainly not watered down. As you are all inclusive you get served in tiny plastic cups so a couple of mouthfuls and its gone. You can get 2 drinks per person at one time. Yes you had to queue but they soon went down. Snacks are also served behind the bar during the day except for meal times. Snacks include hotdogs, chips and toasties. Toasties were ham and cheese. Some days snacks were very hot and some days very cold. RESTAURANT There is 1 main restaurant and this is where you go for breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Breakfast was fantastic. Plenty of choice, ranging from toast which you make yourself, cereals, cheese and cut cold meats. Coissants with various jams or you could go for a fry up. There was always bacon but only streaky, proper engligh sausage, beans and fresh tomatoes. Some morning there was fried eggs and some times scrambled egg. Lunch and Evening meal looked ok, always plenty choice but to be honest everything was cold. Didnt seem to matter what time you went it was always cold. They do have a microwave and everyone seemed to use it but this wasnt for me so after night 1 we ate out. The rep in the hotel was a great guy, english and very polite. Had great product knowledge on the resort and various trips, however we did our trip locally as appeared to be quite a bit cheaper. One point I will add is if you lose your all inclusive card you will def have to buy a new one as you need it at all times for all drinks and food, you get a new one from behind reception at a cost of 6 euros. ENTERTAI NMENT. Apparently the entertainment was reasonable, kids disco followed by a show and then music, however we found a great bar opposite called sinatras and we went there every night. LEISURE FACS There is 1 indoor pool which looked ok but couldnt go in as too cold. There are saunas but no mixed ones, males go in males and females with females. There is also a small gym which looked great but didnt use it. There are 2 outdoor pools, circular in shape. one for adults and 1 for kids. Lifeguard watches both pools all day. Again too cold for me but people were in there. We saw the pools getting cleaned every morning from our balcony. Plenty of sunbathing area, plenty of sunloungers, never had to reserve them but maybe in high seaon this could be a problem. MINI GOLF Included in all inclusive. Quite challenging only problem was its under a lot of trees and you get eaten alive by mossies. LOCATION Good location. Few bars on door step, not too noisy. 5-10 mins from centre. 10-15 mins to beach nice walk and worth it If you are looking for a cheap getaway, clean hotel, good resort then go. If you are wanting luxury, hotel based then look elsewhere.
Advantages: All inclusive: good food, comfy rooms Disadvantages: Occasionally grumpy staff, up a hill, bar closes 12
...hearts. The reviews for the hotel all over the net, were completely negative, citing bad food, broken air conditioning, etc. We gritted our teeth and pretended not to worry and tried not to think about it till we arrived.

It has various facilities including a non-all in bar, an indoor pool and an out door pool, crazy golf course, squash courts and a sauna. THE ROOM

...Being rather tied to the hotel of an evenng with having a small child, we sat in the bar and being the only one of three couples, were still surprised when we were told that they were closing early - it was 8pm! Food was not changed at all during the day at the buffet and being all inclusive, we found we have no choice but to eat out or suffer making ourselves and our daughter ill. Now I know it was April but if they take your money, you expect to ...

Advantages: Clean, large rooms in hotel Disadvantages: Poor reps, poor quality and service in hotel,
My wife and I used First Choice in May 1998. At the time, we had a 4 year old daughter and my wife was 6 months pregnant. We had selected to go to Salou, to stay at the HotelVeneciaPark on all inclusive basis, due mainly to the fact that it was all inclusive (this was the first time we had gone abroad since our honeymoon in St Lucia, which also was all inclusive) and it had a kids club.
Our troubles started on arrival at the Hotel. We arrived at around 10.45pm and then had to wait around 60 minutes to check in. We were issued photo pass cards to present when ordering drinks etc - great, we'll go and grab a snack and a drink and then go to bed (an idea shared by everyone else). Not so! No food served after 11pm was the hotel rule. Cue approx 60 disgruntled travellers, most with young children.
The room, is has to be said ...
