Why we chose the hotel
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My boyfriend and I decided to take a weekend city break in Rome, we were joined by his parents who travelled seperately. We looked on Expedia for a good deal and we found one with reasonable BA flights and 3 nights stay at HotelVilla Patrizi. We looked at the information and pictures of the hotel on the internet and it looked good so we decided to book it. Now we have been to the hotel, and looking back at the pictures, they are true to life and do not decieve you in anyway that the hotel looks different to what it does.
Advantages: A lifetime of sights to see, excellent transport, amazing ice cream Disadvantages: Very busy
Advantages: a very special destination Disadvantages: may not appeal to everyone
...to Padre Pio as a young man to ask for advice when he had marital problems; so the whole thing doesn´t remain abstract for us.
The Italian pupils accompanied their German guests, the whole group was led by the Italian teacher of Religious Education, the priest Don Rosario born and raised in San Giovanni Rotondo, we were well prepared as you can see. We travelled inland for 40 km, from the plain into the hills, San Giovanni Rotondo is situated on the slope of a hill looking just like any ordinary southern Italian town from afar. Ah, not quite, approaching we notice the huge building of the hospital built with the donations given to Padre Pio and the green roof on the second largest Italian Church after St Peter´s in Rome (more of this later).
When Padre Pio arrived in San Giovanni Rotondo in 1918 (he was born in a village nearby...
