Hitlon Hotel, Venice, Molino Stucky

Advantages: Great hotel, great location?
Disadvantages: Perhaps too big!

Last year in the Sunday supplements I read about the new Hilton Hotel that had just opened in Venice and they had comments on the wonderful views and the roof terrace. As we had booked to visit Venice in March of this year, and had been several times before this was an opportunity to see another view of Venice from a different area. I had read that it is a large hotel and thinking about Venice and the size it must be out of the main Venice tourist area, we had not seen any building work on that scale the year before. The Hilton hotel is in the Giudecca area of Venice away from St. Mark's Square. We had to catch a water bus from San Zaccaria, over to Zitelle and then just wondered along until we arrived at the Hilton which is the other end of Giudecca Island. They do say that Elton John has a house in this part of Venice ...

Nice hotel in Lido venice

Advantages: central, private
Disadvantages: no

A well situated hotel in lido Venice, 5 minutes from the Boat station and 15 minutes to St.Mark“s Venice. Very close to the Beach and the Palazzo del Cinema, where the Film festival take place. The staff is very welcoming and pleasant, breakfast quite good, specially in summer in the private Garden. In summer days was quite amazing just take a bike given from the hotel and ride all the island long take a long drink on the way and coming back long the Venice lagoon in the light of the sunset, just heaven! In the evening there are many restaurants close to the hotel, all reacheble by feet, where we found good fish food in venetial style. Rate quite average, I“ve booked through [http://www.lidodivenezia.it Lido Venice Hotel] ...

Old Macdonald had a 5-star Hotel - eee ai eee ai oh

Advantages: It's spectacular and surprisingly quiet and the best location in the city
Disadvantages: Parking, high prices.

As a student at Oxford University in the late 1980s, the Randolph seemed like the physical embodiment of the class divide that afflicted poor kids like me who came from state schools from the much wealthier students who took the affluence and grandeur of the city's finest hotel entirely in their stride. I'd never been in such a grand hotel and the closest thing to a grand building in my home city was the local branch of Lloyds Bank. My flat mates' parents would arrive each term and take us out to the Randolph for rather staid Sunday lunches in the spectacular high ceilinged dining room where we'd sit and watch the world cycle by through the tall windows. By contrast my parents would visit bringing a bag full of fish and chips or a Chinese take-away. I can't really say that we enjoyed the Randolph that much more than a take ...
