benefits from a unique location: situated in a very quiet street and at the same time very close to the main capital centres of interest. Right next to the Opera and the Champs-Elysees, it is so easy to get to the main sight-seeing places of Paris. But it is particularly close to sumptuous museums not very well known yet, such as the Nissim de Camondo, the Jacquemart Andre and the Cernushi museums. You will also easily reach the \'Grands magasins\', that is the department stores, and many restaurants which will satisfy even the most demanding customers. The building dates from the early 19th century and is typically of the Hausmann period. Dating from over 100 years, the hotel was entirely renovated a few years ago. It has an original vaulted basement, which is very rare in the neighbourhood, where breakfasts are served in the morning.

You're only two hours away from Paris by train and an hour and a half from Marseille. If you don't want to go too far away from the city, you can venture up into the Monts du Lyonnais, picturesque hills right outside of Lyon (on the West side).

As I mentioned already, the Romans established their community on the Fourvière hill (West). You can find the Vieux Lyon neighborhood right at the foot...

Advantages: A clean hotel in the heart of Barcelona. Disadvantages: Web page not very trustworthy.
...This year was the first time ever I went on holidays at Easter. For reasons too complicated to get into, we left it a little late to book our hotel in Barcelona, and when searching online, found that we didn't really have as much choice as we had hoped for. Hotels were either very expensive, or about 20 km out of the city. Finally, we found HotelLyon through lastminute.com. Let me quote from the website: "Due to its perfect location HotelLyon is ideal for young tourists who want to discover the vibrant city of Barcelona while spending more for fun than for accommodation. Rooms are simple yet comfortable without any extras that would inflate the price". Reading the description, all sorts of alarm bells were ringing. My thoughts were running along the lines: For 'young tourists', read party animals, for 'simple yet comfortable...

Accommodation
Lyon like any other major city offers a wide range of hotels at different prices. I personally stayed at the very reasonable and very nice Campanile Part-Dieu. This hotel was ideal. The rooms came with en suite bathroom and cable TV. The rooms were clean and the hotel itself modern and very well looked after. The best thing of all about the hotel though was its situation. Part-Dieu is one of the main areas in Lyon. Firstly, it is home to a large SNCF railway station that links Lyon with the rest of France. Secondly, and most significantly for anyone on holiday, the 'Centre Commercial' is here. This is a massive shopping centre with over 260 shops and spanning 4 floors; one of the largest shopping centres in Europe with all big name shops and some really nice places to eat.
If you stay...
