du Vin York is a beautiful grade II listed building that dates back to the early 19th century. Formerly a private home, orphanage and most recently the Shepherd Homes building, the hotel houses 44 stylish bedrooms and suites. The HdV trademark bistro, bar and private dining rooms, along with a courtyard for alfresco dining during the warmer months are avaialble. The hotel has very limited car parking available on "first come, first serve" basis. Local NCP is available with 20% discount between hotel and train station, this is a maximum 10 minute walk away. Reservations for Dinner are advised on booking to avoid disappointment.

The hotel is located so you can "do" the city centre including @ bristol (the science museum), the now trendy harbourside development, the imax cinema - if its still open - and it is only a stone's throw to the cathedral - brilliant traditional choir - go and sit in a 5.15 evensong every weekday if you can.
Expect to pay £150 for a double room for the night. Oooh so worth it if you are looking for a bit of luxury.

Another thing I enjoy doing - and Bristol has a huge number and variety of restaurants to discover!
The soil association hold its organic food festival here every year and there is also a farmers market every Wednesday.
Bristol also has a number of award winning restaurants such as the HotelDuVin and Bistro and The Marriott Royal, both are also good hotels to stay in while visiting Bristol. A lot of the restaurants are situated around the centre on the streets which lead off of it such as park street, whiteladies road, Baldwin street and Corn Street. There really is something for everyone from American grills, Indian, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Thai, African, Spanish and more!
