Hotetur Villas Doradas Beach Resort, Puerto Plata

Advantages: Very clean, excellent service & lovely weather
Disadvantages: Attracts a lot of kids, not excellent evening entertainment

...So on the 5th July 08:55am we set off (on time) from Birmingham airport on a Britannia airbus. After a nine-hour flight we arrived into Puerto Plata (POP) airport, which is the capital of the Dominican Republic, and just a 20minute transfer to the Gran Ventana Hotel. The Gran Ventana hotel is situated in the northern region of the Dominican Republic and is well known for it's windy climate. PLAYA DORADA Playa Dorada is the resort the Gran Ventana is situated in. Playa Dorada which is the largest all inclusive complex because it is made up of 20 all inclusive hotels and is surrounded by a huge golf course excellent for golfers and great for people who like to stay in their own hotel as well as venture out because if you have ever been to the Dominican you will know the towns where people live are horrendous they are very poor... Advantages: beautiful, relaxing, friendly people, nice weather.
Disadvantages: Not white sands and turquoise seas.

...Total Holiday Cost £500!!!! This was our first visit to the Caribbean island of Dominican Republic and at we loved it! We got a last minute deal through Airtours for only £325 all-inclusive! We took the 8-hour flight from Gatwick to Puerto Plata, which is in the North East of the island. The price included coach transfers and it was only about 15 minutes drive to the resort. The resort itself was massive consisting of many hotels, some beach side and golf courses. Our hotel was the 3* Hotetur Villas Doradas. Initially we were a bit down when we saw our rooms but mainly because we’ve stayed in much nicer 3* accommodation at other destinations. I think the lack of light was the problem. ...** Victoria Golf Resort – Playa Dorada – Dominican Republic ** Having visited the Playa Dorado Complex before we knew what to expect but we hadn’t been to the Victoria Golf Resort. Playa Dorado Complex consists of around 14 different “Resorts” situated on a complex shaped like a horseshoe. A road goes all around the complex and each “resort” has its own security, bars, restaurants, beach, entertainment etc, etc. My husband & I plus 4 friends booked the holiday through First Choice. **** Journey **** We flew from Gatwick with First Choice Airways and the plane was a delight.
