Stay at the White House - the London White House

Advantages: Good value, immaculate, 4 Star
Disadvantages: Language problems

I stayed at the Melia White House hotel in June 2008, on my first trip to London. Finding our way from Heathrow T5 to the hotel, negotiating the underground, was surprisingly easy, as the hotel is situated within 5 minutes walk of Great Portland St underground station, just outside leafy Regents Park. Warren St and Regents Park underground stations are also within 10 minutes walk in either direction. The hotel may not look a lot from the exterior, however step inside and the reception is bright, airy and spacious. The reception area is immaculate and covered in marble, and expensive looking antiques. The hotel has 581 rooms over 8 floors (283 Classic rooms, 158 Superior rooms, 28 Triple rooms, 62 Executive Level rooms, 42 Junior Suites, 2 Master Suites, 1 Residential Suite and 5 Disabled rooms). We were booked into a Classic ...

Review of Melia White House, London

melia white house hotel

Advantages: central location
Disadvantages: none

My partner and i were recently in london for the weekend so i looked up expedia to see which hotels we could stay in and i decided on the melia white house as i thought it looked nice and was in a medium price range. The hotel is conveniently located as it is only about 3-5 minutes walk from the great portland street tube station which means that it is easy to get to other parts of london from the hotel. Also it is not far from regents park and london zoo is a 30 minute walk. We also walked to the camden market as it was only about 10-15 minutes walk from london zoo. We also found that the hotel was easy to get to from heathrow airport as you can take the tube and you 0only have to make one change of tube line. When we arrived at the hotel it looked exactly like it did on the website with the reception area looking grand ...

Lions and tigers and....butterflies!

Advantages: lovely story
Disadvantages: none

discovered by the old lady owner of the house who invites him in for tea and scones. As he sits in the warm cosy kitchen, he stares out of the window and spots a large white lion carved out of the hillside and this rouses his curiosity! This prompts the old lady to tell the story of the Butterfly Lion. She tells how a young boy called Bertie lived in Africa and how a white lion cub who was taken away from him and sold to a circus. He moved to boarding school in England but vowed that one day he would find the lion. The story moves on as Bertie grows up and the First World War starts.
