Hove park is situated in the heart of hove on Old Shoreham Road off the A270.

Information about the park before I type my opinions....

Hove is home to the Goldstone which is the subject of many stories. Basically it is nothing but a huge piece of rock weighing 20 tonnes situated in the south west of the park but legend has it that the devil through it down Devils Dyke (South downs) whilst he was excavating it and another one was it was used by the Druids (who?!) for warship. Apparently you can see a face in the rock but I never have! I have never heard such a stupid story. Hove park also has its on miniture railway and you will find inscriptions on the steel plates naming who donated the piece of railway. You will find the operating times near the Cafe. The park has many sporting activities, including a basketball court, tennis courts and facilities to play football. The park also has all-weather astro-turf whatever that is! The childrens park is particuarly great, it has swings, slides and other activities and wood chippings on the ground so if your child falls over it shouldn't be dangerous. What I found quite great was the park has 12 tennis courts! The cafe is fantastic too and quite cheap. The land is huge and great for picnics in the summer which I am looking forward too as Jessica will be 6-7 months old! The park has many benches and great for parents who have been running around all day!

Likes: -

I like everything about this park but I like the family friendly aspect of the park and you will not find smoking teenagers as the park closes at 5pm so it isn't graffiti prone. You have everything you need in one area too, toilets and cafe are close together and very, very clean! I am quite fussy with public toilets and will only use Brighton station toilets and Hove park due to the fact most public toilets are full of nasty things. The park is very entertaining for children so you can have a chat with friends knowing the children are entertained and aren't pestering you every five minutes. The park itself is very clean and I haven't noticed any rubbish anywhere! I have trapsed across the grass because I couldn't be bothered following the path and I haven't noticed any dog poop which is also very important as the worst thing that can happen to any parent is dog poop on the wheels!

Dislikes: -

There is only one thing I dislike and I am not keen about is that some dog owners let their dogs run loose although I haven't met an unfriendly dog it isn't worth the risk especially when there are young children running around so I might mention this to the warden/council. Old Shoreham Road is the link into Hove and is a very big and dangerous road for children so I would make sure the children aren't playing with balls near the edges of the park.

Access: -

The park is very open with wide paths and you do not have to open gates etc so this makes the park wheelchair & buggie friendly! Transport links are fantastic too. The park is relatively near the station.

Fee's: -

The park has got free entry in place. I am not too sure how much it costs to hire the tennis courts but you can find all the info on Brighton and Hove's site. It is best to book sports facilities aswell to make sure on the day you and the children are not disappointed!

10/10
