The Land of Smiles
Review of Hua Hin (Thailand) by TheWizardsSleeve

Advantages: relatively undiscovered when compared to Phuket & Koh Samui
Disadvantages: long journey from Bangkok

...a ten night holiday to Hua Hin, staying at the Anantara Resort & Spa (http://huahin.anantara.com/default.aspx). Flights were via Emirates from Manchester to Dubai then on to Bangkok. We were then picked up in Bangkok via mini bus for the journey down to Hua Hin. Cost was £795 each for flight, ten nights accomodation and airport transfers. I must confess that I had never heard of Hua Hin at the time but the brochure promised a largely un-spoilt but ...
...not?” History of Hua Hin A little bit of history on Hua Hin would not go amiss at this stage. This has been a famous, popular holiday resort for over 70 years, largely for the Thai royal family and also with other Thais. It has been around as a destination well before the likes of Phuket or Koh Samui, both of which are recent discoveries with have grown rapidly and been over-developed. As such it seems to be off the radar of the backpackers and ... Read review

Colonial Style at the Sofitel Central
Review of Hua Hin (Thailand) by petehall

Advantages: Quite, pleasant and relaxing.
Disadvantages: Limited activity outside the hotel.

The royal resort of Hua Hin is a delightful sleepy little town in SE Thailand. There are no famous tourist attractions, not too many girlie bars and a lovely long sandy beach. The first week of our visit coincided with a travelling market and a funfair, so there was extra activity there. This was around the time of the queen's birthday (9th August if I recall) so there may have been a connection. There are a few shops and a small night market, a ...
...one mildly unpleasant experience in Hua Hin, and that was the day we arrived. On arrival we could here drums beating on the beach, right in line with our room. When we strolled down there was a group of youngsters dancing and cavorting, and generally having a good time. That was fine, except that the drums carried on right through the night and were still going a 7 o'clock the next morning. It appeared to be a group of gypsies or hippies who were ... Read review

Good family little village
Review of Hua Hin (Thailand) by Tish29

Advantages: Night market
Disadvantages: A bit boring

Hua Hin is a village about 2.5 hours by car from Bangkok. It boast quite a few nice night markets although they are directed to tourist and you wouldn't really see any Thai natives shopping there (selection of fake bags, fake designer T-shirt) however there is quite a few food street vendors where you can taste the Thai delicacies at a very very cheap price. There are also quite a good selection of bars and restaurant (a lot of them seafood!!)and ...
...£5. In my opinion Hua Hin is a nice little village if you are going on a family holiday or in couple however this is definatly not a place where you are going to party like mad and can become boring very quickly (oh well, it did bore me after a few days there!) It is a very relaxing place but do not expect a lot happening there. ... Read review

Hua Hin Beach
Review of Hua Hin (Thailand) by Naryn

Advantages: quite,relaxing,etc.
Disadvantages: -

Well, Hua Hin is not much far from Bangkok, only 3 hours southwest of Bangkok. I have known that here is claimed as the Thailand's oldest beach resort. This beach is located in the western side of Thai Gulf,in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, here is very peaceful and essentially relaxing. I don't like Pattaya, where is very crowded....as well as the water sport is provided overthere. I can give you some example places to visit if you can visit there...Khao ... Read review
