Hull City Council says that on the grounds of falling attendance it may have to close. Hull Screen has, and never had, a marketing budget. Printed programmes are financed by the stationery budget. So the cinema is a little known gem even in its own home town.

For many years Hull Screen has had a diverse schedule of films from several countries around the world (including the best of independent and local film production in the UK), mostly non-Hollywood, the cinema is the only out-let in the city for the films that the large corporate multiplexes will not show. Either because the films do not appeal to the masses, or they are of a controversial nature, the Hull Screen has never given-up and has always shown the widest range to national and international films from all over the world.

With an auditorium larger than many of the multiplexes that are around, and a screen bigger than any I have seen in any multiplex, which usually have screens not much bigger than glorified TV screens, Hull Screen is a true cinematic experience. Another advantage of Hull Screen is its discount rates, cheap screenings, and very afforable family Saturday afternoon showings.
A friendly and relaxed atmosphere, Hull Screen gives it customers probably one of the best evenings viewing they will have had in a long time. So if you are in Hull, support this Art House cinema before the Council see sit to close it down.
Advantages: It's my home town Disadvantages: It smells of fish...
the Lincoln Castle, now a bar and restaurant but in years gone by, before the completion of the Humber Bridge, it was a passenger ferry, shipping people from the South side of the Humber to Hull on the North side. The shopping, naturally, is quite a draw, but there is also a leisure centre, an enormous swimming pool and a cinema which has three screens, if my memory serves me correctly!
Night life in Grimsby is also something to be experienced! I must admit that most people, especially those that my friends and I used to refer to as "townies" go out to one of the numerous bars and nightclubs in Cleethorpes. Cleethorpes has much more credibility than Grimsby for nightlife. Personally, I never took to Cleethorpes, my local was the "Barge" which is docked just outside Freshney Place in Grimsby Town Centre and in my day used to be the only ...
