I stayed ther on business in 1998. Cold welcome at reception from clearly stressed staff. Dining area is cramped with a limited selection of fancy meals, the staff are again cold and uninterested.
The hotel is a concrete obelisk which is poorly disguised as a hotel inside, sound proofing between rooms is poor as I could hear a television form three rooms along the corridor. The room was comfortable but nothing special justified the cost.
The bar is well stocked but poorly attended probably because it is staffed with characterless staff.
Location in the center of the city is good and there is copious car parking although a poorly posted sign makes missing the turn likely.
Beware two of the lifts are glass walled and when unexpected the sight from 200ft can be very arresting.
I wouldn't return there again if I was paying.

Advantages: That presidential suite looks nice, good views over the city Disadvantages: Service isn't fantastic, above budget for the average traveller

Review of Hyatt Regency, Birmingham
Advantages: A premier, luxurious, worldwide hotel chain - A superb and generous loyalty card scheme - Can be surprisingly competitive and cost effective if you know where to look Disadvantages: Minimal representation in the UK
