Advantages: Amazing city, friendly people and so much to see. Disadvantages: That I couldn't have stayed longer!
...; (there was a group of 80 of us and we were all seated apart despite booking a long time in advance), the hours seemed to drag, and there was no leg room, -once we arrived down in SanFrancisco I knew that it had been worth the journey and the wait. The American staff at the airport were very friendly, and thorough with the checks. I had to have my photo taken and give finger print- I felt slightly like James Bond!
The bus journey to our hotel, The Radisson on Fisherman's Wharf was only a bus journey of about 20 minites, and with so much glorious scenery the time really flew by! Just as we were aproaching our hotel it started to rain heavily, but even this didn't dampen our spirits!
That evening I went to Mc Donalds near the hotel for some typically American food. I then went to sleep fairly early after the long journey.

Advantages: A Great city full of life and fun Disadvantages: Expensive
...'s Diner can come highly recommended.
Planet Hollywood is also nice to eat and not as busy as the one in London. Tables are not a problem.
Down at FishermansWharf and Pier 39 there are many nice Seafood restaurants. Quite expensive but very tasty if you like fresh seafood.
Shopping.
---------
If you want bargains, DONT come to SanFrancisco. Go To Florida if you want that.
Here are some of the more fine shopping district. Not bargain basement malls.
You will find Macy's on the Square offering all sorts of fashions and accessories. In the lobbies of many of the hotels you will find Versace, Gucci and other fine shops.
Tipping.
--------
OK. So tourism is their main source of income in San Fran and they rely on your tipping to make ends meet and pay their rent. Be generous if you feel they have earned it. You will find everyone...

Advantages: Amazing and versitile city Disadvantages: That l had to come back to reality - boo hoo
...Alcatraz l had to pre book tickets – it really is that popular an attraction. To do so go to www.blueandgoldfleet.com – this is the only tour company running scheduled ferries from Fisherman’sWharf to the Island. Our tour cost $16 each and this included an audio tour of the cell house. I would recommend this great tour. You follow the lines of your feet and listen to former prisoners and wardens talk about “The Rock”.
The cell house is really rundown and worn, but this really adds to the atmosphere of the place, the spooky eeriness of what must have been hell on earth. Step inside a minuscule cell and image the confinement or pop into solitary and shut the door, try and stop yourself panicicking – they really shut men up in these black boxes for weeks on end. This is really one trip in SanFrancisco that you cannot miss.

Joe Satriani is considered by many as one of the greatest guitarists to have ever lived. He manages to combine technical brilliance with melody to produce some excellent and powerful songs. He plays a good rock song too.
